Say hello to my little friend!
I really want to give this guy five stars (he's given me so many), and... ya know what? I'm going to... However, he seemingly had one tragic flaw: the connection between the rocket ship and the moon base did not work at first. The grey, plastic piece that is the foundation in which the whole thing is supposed to be grounded, and supported to stay upright, absolutely would not clip fully together with the mounting piece on the bottom of the ship.Somehow, after a few hours on my metal table, I guess the plastic sort of straightened out a little under the weight, and the two pieces settled into each other all the way. If this hadn't happened, any heavy touch of this bobble-headed hero would set him atilt, and toppling over. The head, which holds the entire slide projector (slide tray, lens, bulb), is heavy, more than half the weight of the whole thing, and attaches to the body via a strong magnet. So apart from the worrying about the balancing act, this guy is awesome! My space obsessed inner child was beaming when I turned it on, and got the lens focused. You can turn the nightlight (the glowing ship) off during operation. But if you like it, you can let it glow in one of several different colors. Or, you can just glow the ship as a "nightlight", for your little one with the projector off.You can set the image to rotate at three speeds, (slowest is as though you're really watching space from... somewhere). The focus ring is around the lens, so I can't see little guys operating this without smudging the lens (they do include a lens wipe, btw).Once I was gazing up, I was transported to fond childhood memories of planetariums, and shuttle launches in IMAX (my dad was in space/ missile production). Before cgi made every great space show seem real, some of us lived our dreams through National Geographic and early Hubble photos, and old NASA images. This little guy really brought me back. I can't see a kid not loving this, even if today's kids might not stare quite as long.It also has a timer, so you can set it to run for one or two hours then power down. All the buttons are on the astronaut's pack. This makes me very happy. I'm hoping it's the case for everyone that the base just needs to settle and flatten into shape before it clicks fully together. Though, now I am not going to store it in the box because I don't want to risk it breaking taking the base off multiple times. This is really great, and I'm grateful someone designed this thing, even if the little rectangular base plate almost ruins it entirely. Luckily things fell into place, when given a little time.

Projection is cool but....
For the actual projection visuals, this is great. But the plastic base takes many repeated efforts to attach to the unit. It kept wanting to pop out. It is designed to fit into a child's room but should be placed out of reach of very young children. The head can easily be knocked off the base it sits in, and the cable attachment may be damaged as it falls. This connection point probably could have been better thought out. It is cool though.

Bedtime Bliss for Kids: SOMKTN Rocket Astronaut Star Projector Review
I recently purchased the SOMKTN 360° Adjustable Rocket Astronaut Star Projector for my kids, and it has become an absolute game-changer in our bedtime routine. As a parent, I'm always on the lookout for ways to make bedtime more enjoyable and help my little ones look forward to going to sleep. This star projector has turned out to be the perfect solution. One of the standout features of this projector is its ability to create a soothing and enchanting atmosphere in our kids' room. With 10 different colors to choose from, it effortlessly transforms their space into a calming and dreamy galaxy. The gentle glow of stars and nebulae on the ceiling and walls has an almost magical effect on my children, helping them unwind and relax before bedtime. But it's not just about relaxation; this star projector also ignites their imagination. The rocket astronaut theme is a big hit with my kids, and it gets them excited about bedtime. They now see going to bed as an opportunity to embark on a cosmic adventure. The 13 interchangeable film discs, featuring constellations, planets, and astronomical events, add an educational element to their bedtime routine. They love picking a different disc each night and learning about the wonders of the universe in a fun and engaging way.The timing shut-off feature has been a lifesaver. I can set it to turn off after 1 or 2 hours, ensuring that my kids get a good night's sleep without any disturbances. Even on those nights when we forget to set the timer, the projector automatically shuts off after four hours, which is a thoughtful and energy-saving touch. The portability of this star projector is a huge plus. Whether we're traveling, camping, or simply spending a night away from home, we can take the magic of the starry night sky with us. Pas pour moi
Je suis très déçue puisque ça ne fait que des cercles au plafond ou au mur. Je m’attendais à ce que tout le plafond et les murs en partie, comme d’autres.

Film fades, images become washed out
It was basically only a month of continuous use (2-5 hours) every night, the film starts to fade and become washed out. The instructions say to rotate images and they are disposable in the end, but still can't get the feeling this is a fatal flaw with film projectors. We still use it for my kid but the images are all washed out.Pros:- bright projector (protect your eyes when turning it on)- no issue with astronaut connecting to rocket base, seems sturdy- timer adequate- adjustable direction- slow rotations works okay, slight hum is fineCons:- Washed out images after short time.- Solar system film a bit unrealistic (planet Earth looks like bubbles) but still a favourite of my kid.- Focus adjustment difficult, never could get a well defined images on 8ft ceilings.
