LOVE this old favorite!
This book is a rite of passage when growing up and starting to read classic literature! "Call of the Wild" follows the story of a dog named Buck who transitions from a domesticated pet into a wild and fiercely independent creature in the Yukon during the Gold Rush. This version has some classic pictures included that help put you deeper into the story and allow you to connect with the history and harsh realities of living in that area long ago. Whether you've got a kiddo who needs to read it for school or an adult wanting to relive the magic from favorite old books, this version will not disappoint.

Still as powerful a story as ever
I was deeply moved by "The Call Of The Wild" the first time I read it and this time was no different. This story though about a dog turned wolf on the surface, is truly an unvarnished, visceral look at human nature. It made me shudder all over again. I really enjoyed the original illustrations which had an almost photographic feel to them.

The Call of the Wild cannot be ignored!
It has been many a year since I first read Jack London’s classic The Call of the Wild back in Junior High English Lit. It was one of books that inspired me to read more of the classics. After a fifty-year hiatus I was just as moved by story but this time I was also treated to the original illustrations. The tale takes the reader on journey that explores the bond between dog and man throughout history. This should be required reading for everyone.

read this story when I was young
I loved this book as a child. Now that I'm older the lettering is large enough I don't have issues reading it so appreciate that. I plan on getting other books by Jack London, "White Fang".

So Beautiful
I couldn't believe how this simple book could pack such a wallop! It was so beautiful I cried at the end and promptly ordered one to give to my sister for Christmas. If you have never read Jack London before, I highly recommend you start with this one. I went on to White Fang then ordered the complete works. Just amazing.

Brave story
This is quite a brave story by Jack London, and sometimes cruel, but it's about the nature and it's wilderness. Yet it contains a heartwarming message to all readers.

Excellent
Jack London's "Call of the Wild" stands as a remarkable expedition into the realms of nature, survival, and the innate feral instincts embedded within every creature, be it human or beast. The narrative of Buck, the once-domesticated canine transformed into a creature of the wild, retains its enthrallment in contemporary times, mirroring its initial publication allure. It grants readers a vibrant odyssey through the unforgiving terrains of the Yukon amid the fervor of the Klondike Gold Rush. London's prose maintains its primal potency, mirroring the untamed domain he portrays, thereby enshrining each chapter as a testament to his unparalleled mastery of storytelling.Similarly enchanting, the twenty-nine unique illustrations by Philip R. Goodwin and Charles Livingston Bull offer readers a visual banquet that harmoniously complements London's tale. These depictions not only encapsulate the core of the story's pivotal junctures but also introduce an additional stratum of profundity, enriching the reader's plunge into Buck's realm. The symbiosis between London's phrasings and the craftsmen's interpretations renders this version of "Call of the Wild" an essential acquisition for enthusiasts of timeless literature and devotees of the artistic world alike.

Beware
Whilst it does not take away from the quality of the writing if I’d known beforehand how violent this book is I would not have started it.

Very small print
I bought this because I knew the fabulous cover would interest my son, which it did.Unfortunately, the tiny crammed-in print puts him (and me) off from reading it. It seems to me that this is likely a self-published version of an out -of-copyright tale, trying to use as little paper as possible to maximise profit. Look at my photo to see how thin the spine is, you can barely read the title on the spine, and I would say that is very poor formatting.Wish I’d bought one of the many other versions of this story.
