Jack Marshall is the loml
I stayed up all night absolutely DEVOURING this adorable (and so so hot) book. I adored Colin in Mr. Wrong Number, but Jack? God… I’m so in love with him that not only do I wish I was Hallie, I wish he was real. *prays I meet someone like him in real life* Goodness, the crush I have on Jack Marshall should be studied because this man truly owns me, mind, body, and soul (iykyk). This book was lovely, hilarious, and downright sexy from beginning to end. I’ve been re-reading my favourite parts all day and I can’t get enough. This user is a Jack Marshall lover for life! ❤️

Such a fun read with all the best tropes!
This is it, the turning point. Something has to change because this is rock bottom crawling out of a hotel room after a one night stand. Hallie’s determined to find love so she sets up an online dating account and who does she find, Jack. They make a deal to be dating buddies, helping each other escape terrible dates. And the one who finds love first wins. Everything is well and good until Hallie brings Jack as her (fake) boyfriend to a wedding where lines are blurred and crossed.Love everything about this!! It’s funny, light and reads really well. It reminds me a bit of Josh + Hazels guide to not dating along with TSLD, just add in a one night stand. Which is high praise because I absolutely love those books. This is definitely one of those books you can get lost in, I couldn’t put it down when I actually got into it. Dating buddies really needs to be a trope in itself because it always works imo. The dual pov makes it even better. I also really like the text messages, they’re really funny and a bit flirty to.There is a bit of miscommunication, or just suppressing of emotions but it’s minor. Personally I didn’t mind it. And I also want to mention that this is the second book in the Mr wrong number series. I have not read the first one yet (don’t come for me) but they can be read as standalone. But I’ll definitely go back and read the first one now!

This is a fun follow up book focused on the brother and best friend/roommate from book one. It is a bit of a time jump but handled well. The premise of a bet over who can find love first is fun and there isn’t an obvious one likes the other sabotage element until later in the book. I hope there are more books in this series but not sure who would be followed next!

Delightful! With A 'Just Okay' Ending
Loved Mr. Wrong Number and this second but stand-alone-worthy instalment was also super fun, and (I still can't quite believe this) walks the line between steamy and tasteful perfectly! The banter was super fun -- I live for this kind of banter where I am stupid-smiling every time the couple interacts. My only knock is two-fold: I didn't quite get the banter in one of the last scenes. Is "cold hands" code for something? If so, I missed it. Also, Jack takes all the heat for their "misunderstanding." I thought Hallie played a significant role delaying the resolution and should have at least acknowledged this fact, rather than skewering him (with humor but I didn't find it funny) about his misstep. The teaser for Painter's next book will go on my TBR the second it comes out. She knows how to set up rom coms I need to know more about!
