This is exactly what I was looking for when putting holes in the ground for grass seed. It’s a very well made product, strong steel. I’d definitely recommend it!

This is super solid and I can really tear up the tundra with it. Does a great job loosening the soil, I have no worries about this thing being sturdy.

Great, well made product. With care it will last you for years. I deducted 1 star because it only creates holes in the ground, it does not pull up plugs for a true aeration.

My backyard has compacted soil with no cover, so the hot sun baked the dirt pretty well. After a recent rain (a couple of hours of drizzle), I tried this out, and to my surprise, it dug in pretty well. It also helped that I put my entire weight onto it. The key to loosening the dirt is to SLOWLY jiggle the tool little by little rather than forcing it like a crowbar. It made easy work of my hardened soil. I was able to use my regular shovel to dig deeper into the moist soil below.I used the included gloves just to keep my hands "clean". Fine particles still got in through the mesh. I wish the handle were about 6-8 inches longer so that I didn't have to bend down as much. If you're not too tall, then this won't be a problem for you.All in all, this saved me a lot of time and effort in breaking up my soil.

This spike lawn aerator is easy to assemble, and easy to use. It’s very sturdy, and perfect for using in the garden. I would recommend it.

Update: the weld broke with regular use (see photo). Which is a shame because it really made a big difference in my lawn. Hopefully some JB Weld can fix it. Must update to one star :(Original review below.Built well and works well. The tines are quite sharp. I wish it was a little taller but I'm 6'3" and nothing is built for that height so my back hurts. And the included gloves are for childrens' hands so they're unusable. We'll see how long the foam handles last against sweat and dirt though ..

The spikes on this tool are pretty long and do a decent job of loosening up the soil. I recommend doing this after a rain or while the ground is wet to make it easier. Because this is not a core aeration tool, I’ve found it really is only good for short term use. After a few months, the ground will adjust back to normal. While this one is nice and easy to use, if you want to really make an impact, I recommend searching for a core aerator.
