Pretty damn flavourful.
I've newfound respect for these. The meals are surprisingly tasty and filling, the treats are nice and while the chocolate cake is a little bland, what more could you want? It's CAKE people!!!One thing that I must absolutely state, even advise that RationX make an emphasis on the packaging with in big yellow writing, is that the fumes from active self-heating packs are HIGHLY FLAMMABLE.I had one steaming up around a foot away from a small tea light I was using for a little basic lighting while organising the rest of my dinner. WHOOSH! Fire and mad panic inside my tent ensued.Thank any deity up there that I had the foresight to make my dinner on a fireproof mat, which I could flip over and smother my still-on-fire dinner pack while blowing out the tea light. The heater is using a chemical reaction, it's not going to stop fuming off, but it still warmed up my dinner even when the plastic bag was half burned away. Big respect, but also lesson learned.Sure these packs are a little expensive and heavy compared to dehydrated foods, but remembering that they literally last years before use, come with a heater and a nice selection of treats, drinks and useful paraphernalia, well worth it I reckon. Just add water.

My 5 day journey in honor of Her Majesty the Queen
Day 1:English breakfastHot Chocolate tasted good. The coffee tasted better than some coffee you would get from a vending machine.Hard tack was dry, as expected. Washed down with lemon powder drink which tasted fine.Hard boiled sweets sugar content keeps you going, but after a couple you realize they taste exactly like the lemon powder drink you had earlier. The English breakfast entrée was awful - but as expected. Beans tasted like the cheapest canned beans you could buy (not even Heinz), and the meat was questionable. It was very filling though. The ration heater didn't work as expected, the food wasn't heated thoroughly. But I suspected it to be a user error.Chocolate Cake was amazing. Very moist, and very flavorful. Also very filling. The tea was acceptable.Day 2:Chili con CarneHot Chocolate and coffee was good as before.Started day off with Chocolate Cake instead on the account of how good it tasted last night.Chili con Carne entrée was amazing. Super flavorful, and not one bit of it tasted like canned food. It honestly tasted like somebody just cooked it up. This time the entrée was in a retort pouch.Broke pieces of the hard tack and ate with the Chili. Moisture content of the Chili carried the dry hard tack and made for an amazing meal. This time I got the ration heater to work correctly. I gave the heating packet a bit of a shake and started the 12 minute timer /after/ it began reacting with the water. Entrée was heated thoroughly.Day 3:Spicy Vegetable PastaThis ration came with a Maple Syrup Bun instead of the Chocolate Cake. I was ready to be disappointed but it actually tasted really good. The Maple Syrup was sweet, and the Bun was very moist. The Pasta entrée wasn't great. It tasted like cheap canned food again like the English Breakfast entrée. Something about preserved tomato sauce just never taste good. The rigatoni pasta was hard, beyond what I would call Al dente but it was acceptable. Not sure where the vegetables were but there were some bits in there that tasted like the suspicious meat from the English Breakfast entrée. That probably were the vegetables.Didn't eat this meal with the hard tack, so Dinner was hard tack with lemonade and hot chocolate.Day 4:Chicken CurryMaple Syrup Bun was good as before. Starting to admire the consistency of these items.Chicken Curry entrée was great, but not as much as the Chili con Carne. Retort pouch again. This actually had rice along with the curry, but it was wet enough to eat with hard tack anyway. Very filling. The actual pieces of chicken didn't taste like unknown meat for once.Ration pack came with a chocolate bar for some reason. It was dark chocolate but with a lot of extra sugar added which is always good for maintaining energy levels. Tasted pretty good.Realized that the pictures uploaded by the seller on amazon is not entirely accurate, as I have yet to encounter a cereal bar or a bag of sunflower seeds.Day 5:Meatballs and PastaChocolate cake again this time. No sight of items seen on amazon reference pictures such as cereal bars or apple turnovers. Regardless, the chocolate cake was good as per usual.Found an extra item which I thought was a second entrée, but was actually some sliced pears in syrup.Pears tasted fine, drank the syrup for it's sugar content. Not a fan of pears in general but this was ok.Meatballs and Pasta was in a flat pouch. It tasted bad as with everything that had tomato sauce and with everything that came in a flat pouch. Seems like meals in retort pouches are of high quality.Ration heater worked great for the 4th time in a row. I conclude that my first experience with it was due to an user error. And there you have it. 5 days survived on these ration packs. It's not a lot of calories, but lots of water keeps you going, and sucking on the boiled sweets staves away the hunger.

Don't bother unless you want cold food and chemical drinks
I have used ration packs for almost 50yrs and bought them from suppliers from all over the world (normally military surplus), I bought these with the intension of trying them and if any good to buy more to keep in stock, but I will not be buying theses ever againOk I bought these primarily for overnight sea fishing during the winter and winter car camping so I could have a hot meal at 3 in the morning while standing on a beach in the middle of winter and not have to carry a stove, pans and water.Pros and consPros the food in the main retort pouch is quite nice and in Fact I would be happy eating this cold during the summer which in reality is just as well as the FRH’s supplied in these ration packs are next to useless and barley get the food up to tepid which considering one of the meals is an all-day breakfast with pork sausages in it, is just a case of food poisoning waiting to happen if you need to heat these then I suggest using a stove, pan and water to soak them inIf you are looking for a biscuit base for a cheesecake then you are in luck as the biscuits come ready crushed into crumbsConsThe fruit drink which in every pack is an extremely chemical packed and tasting Lime (the same flavour in every pack) which you need to use hot water for, as it does not dissolve completely in cold waterThe sweets that come in the ration pack (opened one to find no sweets in it) again taste extremely chemically and are very very hard as an experiment I put 2 into a jug of boiling water and they took almost 30 minutes to dissolve

No heater to head up food
The packages does not include small heater to heat up the food as it supposed to. Otherwise very good for camping.

No good for serious trips. Can't trust that they will arrive as stated.
Used to using ration packs and in a pinch decided on these. Two didnt have heaters, and the ones that did, the heaters didn't work (I know how to use them). If the trip had gone bad I'd have been in some trouble with these. Luckily the calories were enough. The chocolate cake was great!
