Very good and powerful, used to hem some jeans and this little beast didn’t disappoint. It has only one speed and one pattern but honestly this is all you need form simple tasks. Just practiced a little on some old t-shirts to get the knack, i had no experience with sewing machines before.

The Singer Quick Stich Plus came threaded with "white thread" and worked right out of the box, But I wanted black thread, so I unthreaded it and re-threaded it with black, no issues with threading. The small sewing kit that comes with it has plastic bobbins, and this machine only uses metal bobbins, so I placed the plastic ones into my hand sewing box. I recently purchased a Brothers machine for 95.00, one of their budget friendly models, and it absolutely would not sew my 90% Polyester / 10% Elastane material. The Singer Quick Stitch Plus sewn it without any problems. I found the Quick stitch seemed to put too much tension on the thread, was tight to pull on it, but sewn just fine. I know this machine is not designed as a replacement for a larger desktop machine, but this will be very handy to "tack" material in place for the large machine to do the permanent stitch. I haven't tried it for a permanent stitch, but it likely could if I properly anchored the stitch ends. This machine does not have reverse to anchor the thread, it could be done by spinning the material and a few stitches in opposite direction, but I found the stitches didn't easily pull out, so somewhat anchored, at least enough to tack the material where I want it. I do not care about the negative reviews, I tested this machine myself, and was very impressed, I would definitely recommend this machine.

I was sent a machine that someone reuturned. It was packaged and taped up to look like garbage. I was still hopeful that it may have been squashed up in the delivery but my gut said it was a Singer that didn't work. I tried it out and it made a couple of feeble noises and completely stopped working. I couldn't turn the wheel and the power button didn't do anything. I couldn't get the piece of material out from under the foot, then couldn't make the threads extend to cut it away. Someone jambed it and sent it back and the distributor just sent it off to me. I bought a power cord for it but kept that when I returned the machine. I'm so disappointed because I think the little sewing machine may be a good one if someone didn't wreck it while trying to use it. I read all the instructions before I started and it looked like it was threaded properly. The mechanism was just damaged inside. Distributors, please send NEW items when we pay for NEW items!
