Survived torrential downpours its first trip!
Well dang, this is a much nicer tent than I was expecting for the price! The reviews did not lie. What I liked: - Super well waterproofed. Huge rainstorms every day, and we had no problems. There was even a small amount of standing water under my side of the tent one day (felt like a thin water bed, lol) and nothing got in. -Fit well around the opening of our SUV, no issues with bugs or water getting in. -Decent amount of space— we fit a queen air mattress + had room for an XL dog bed for our 90lb & very long pup. We both could stand up comfortably in the middle + under the SUV hatch (5’9” and 6’1”). -Colors are pleasant. Unobtrusive in nature but colorful enough to have personality. This shade of green matches the Subaru Autumn Green very nicely (more olive-toned than the listing photos) -Impressively good quality for the price. I’ll be curious to see how it holds up over time, but none of the materials feel cheap, and the quality control seems good. -Sidewall hanging pockets were convenient -Tent seems to be holding up so far to my dog camping with us. Smaller dogs may find the threshold at the tent door a little high. Things I like a little less: -If you aren’t using the car feature, the amount of standing room area is a little small for tall people -I really wish there were doors on more than one side of the tent. We keep ending up with campsites where (in order to park our car with the tent) we HAVE to set it up with the door facing the very edge of our campsite, with the rest of the space on the opposite side. It’s not the end of the world, but matters when you can’t just rotate the tent because of the car. -Definitely awkward to set up with just one person. My spouse (military engineer— definitely can put up a tent, lol) prefers to do tent setup alone but even he had to admit this tent is a two-person job. He managed to do it but mentioned it took much longer to setup alone than other tents he’s done by himself. Disclosure: I was compensated for my review my the manufacturer, but in no way advised on what to say, how to rate the product, etc., these are my honest opinions. Will update review if I have further feedback after more extended use!

Good in Rain
Puchased 8/21/23 on Amazon after much research on SUV tents. This was a new item on Amazon and it didn’t have many revues yet, and I was skeptical it would fit our 2023 Ford Expedition, and after hesitating for more than a week the tent went on sale for $30 off so I pulled the plug and ordered. The tent came pretty quick, very tight packed in storage bag and I was afraid we would never get it back in the bag again, we did. So first thing we needed to confirm is that it would fit our truck. We decided to set up in our back yard first to practice and confirm it fit, and it does but no room to spare when strapping to the back end. First time unpacking, reading instructions, setting up tent, attaching to truck took about hour. Strapping the tent is an experiment and figured you need to have the tailgate half way down, then slide the tent onto the backend of the truck, after attaching straps you lift the tailgate and it will not go all the way up with this truck, you will need to watch your head when climbing in and out. The tent seems good quality, good size for my wife, me and the dog, good windows, ventilation, and standing room. Sliding the polls through the pockets is not easy, it helps to have 2 people putting this up. We spent a couple nights sleeping in our back yard and were not bugged by mosquitoes finding their way in. The only complaint was sleeping on hard floor of the truck without good padding. First time camping trip to Madeline Island, WI on 6/18/24 would really test this tent in nasty weather. We knew the weather was warning for possible heavy storms that night, but decided to set up tent anyway, had black plastic down on dirt and outdoor carpet in tent, The site grade had the truck roof tilting down to the tent which worried me water would run off into the tent. It started to rain about 7pm and down poured all night, got up middle night to use the potty expecting inches of water in tent but only slight dampness on floor, was amazed next morning there was not a foot of water in tent, only a little damp! It rained so hard that many roads on the island were washed out. I have to say I think the truck has a channel directing water down under the truck when tailgate is open. The rain fly worked as expected, the camp site was a muddy mess, but we stayed dry for the most part, we then disconnected the tent and went to town. We stayed one more night and just folded the tent in a tarp as the bottom was still muddy, getting home we dried and cleaned the tent and packed away. Good tent for the money

Spacious, Works as standalone as well
This tent is very spacious and has generous height as well. I'm relatively short but was able to stand up fully inside with absolutely no issue at all. Regarding assembly, I noticed a few people mentioning that this was tricky, and while it isn't like those auto-erecting tents, I did not find it bad at all. I just got this and tested it out at my local park (see pics attached) - I managed to set this up and take it down again entirely by myself within 30 mins. The instructions are included attached in the bag so you don't need to worry about losing them and there is even a QR code on that sheet which links to a video showing step by step how to do it. It would definitely be easier with two people but I was super impressed that I could even do it solo (note: I do have experience with setting up tents so that likely helped. I think for anyone less familiar you would need two people but it's very doable with the extra set of hands)! The other thing that's really neat about this tent (and especially important for my use case) is that you can use it as a standalone tent too! It was something I was worried about but you can see in the pictures that there's actually a zip to close off the section that would otherwise be used to attach to the back of the car. This makes it great for versatility and using it for non car-camping! Materials seem good and the base looks thick enough. I haven't taken it for an actual camping trip yet so will need to see how it holds up in real weather but I don't expect any issues from what I've seen. The inside has a few pockets as well for storage which is fantastic. There are only two issues I see with this tent for which I've currently given 4 stars: One is that the tent does seem to sag in the middle of the side walls, however I didn't fully peg it down and use the ties so maybe that would help. I really need to test it out in a proper camping use-case and then I can update it if it is tighter than it currently looks. I do recognize as well that with SUV tents you can't have the cross poles so that limits the structural stiffness compared to other designs and this would probably be a non factor when used with an SUV rather than standalone like I have it. The second thing is that the carrying case is well designed but seems flimsy. Not sure if this will hold up but time will tell. Be careful when opening the packaging - it's right up against the tape in the box so when I was opening the box I accidentally cut the case as well. Definitely my fault but something to be mindful of when opening the packaging. Overall at this price range I think this is a fantastic SUV tent for the size and quality of material you get. Can't speak to durability yet but I am impressed with the product so far!

Easy to set up, keeps the bugs out, and handled a downpour no problem
Like good procrastinators, we left for our trip late, arrived in the dark, and neglected to test out the tent prior to our trip. It fit my 2014 Ford Edge just fine, thankfully, and despite my spouse and I being extremely cranky, setting up the tent was really easy. It was mostly intuitive; we did not need to look at the convenient set up guide video because the diagram on the label was easy to read. We were able to test it in stormy weather also! It poured on us for about an hour, then drizzled for another three. The tent kept us dry even with the windows unzipped, and it kept the bugs out. We had plenty of space inside for storage and to move around as we got ready to attend the wedding. We set up a two person camp chair inside and still had plenty of room. My only "complaint" is that the ceiling is so tall my 6 ft spouse had space to spare even under the lantern we hung from the convenient loop on the ceiling. I am 5 ft 5 in, and was unable to reach the loop. I wish they had more loops than the one, because it would be nice to hang string lights inside.

Great tent except it had a hole.
I purchased last year but just took it out camping for the first time last weekend. It was tricky to put up as a first time. The instructions were not helpful. I'm glad my adult daughter was there, it's definitely a 2 or 3 person job. Overall we like it but I was very disappointed to find a hole in the bottom of it. I'm hoping there's a patch available to fix it. It was a big purchase for me and it should not have a hole.

Very roomy. Good for the price.
I gave it 5 stars with the caveat that it hasn’t been tested in bad weather yet. Will adjust if it doesn’t hold up. Pros: Good for the price. Spacious with good height. Seems robust enough, and the design is mostly ok. Pretty airtight, so open a door when packing up. Cons: No labels on corners or pole pockets so get out your sharpie and mark them for future setups. Meager instructions (sewn inside the tent bag) so I advise watching a YouTube video first. Rubbish tent pegs as is usually the case with cheap tents, so buy some decent ones. Guy lines conflict with rain fly. Notes: I was able to set it up solo (I’m a 69 y/o woman with tenting experience) although I won’t say it was easy. It will be better to have help. The first time setup took 30 minutes plus a further 30 trying to futz with connection to my Ford Transit Connect XLT. Second setup took 15 minutes with 10 minutes on the vehicle connection. The straps on the vehicle tunnel made no sense at all on the Ford and in the end I just cut most of them off and attached the tunnel to the vehicle using some very strong neodymium magnets (not recommended if you care a lot about slight scratches - I don’t - my vehicle is an old workhorse). In the first set up, the cross pole seemed too long to be able to fit into the end pockets and I pulled it out several times to check that all the joins were properly seated. Eventually I got the pole into the pockets with force. I guess the tent fabric stretched out under pressure and it was manageable on the second setup. I can see why other reviewers broke poles. Packing up took about 15 minutes and the tent went back in the bag pretty easily. The bag zips are predictably cheap so go easy on them.

So Disappointed
I absolutely hate this product. Allow me to explain. I go camping solo. Recently, (finished yesterday), I built out my vehicle to accommodate car camping. I ordered this ahead of time so that I'd be ready. I wanted to be able to leave my hatch open as well as have a place to keep my bike out of the elements when I camp. I set this up yesterday. Well, I attempted to set it up. The poles kept coming apart when trying to push them through. The tent kept flipping over/collapsing every time I tried to get one side in the foot stake thing. I had a hard time figuring out all the buckles, even after watching the video several times. I never did get it right. When taking it down, the poles kept coming apart when trying to get them out. It took me over 1.5hrs to setup (wrong) within not even connected to the car correctly. You could walk through the gaps, which I did. Thank goodness for Thermacell! It took 45 minutes to break down. I didn't even bother to put it back in the bag. As a solo camper, I need something that can be done alone. I'm on the search for a pop up car tent. If anyone knows of a good one, let me know because this tent is a "no" for me...and it's outside of the return window...uuuggghhhh!!!

SUV tent only
I am a single mother of two boys who purchased this tent to for the ability to be able to use it with my SUV as well as a stand alone tent when I felt more comfortable Camping alone with my boys. I would absolutely recommend this if you need a cheap tent for your SUV and you will be only using for such. Do not purchase this tent if you ever plan on using it as a stand alone tent like the description offers. Without the stability of your SUV, it is incredibly unstable and flimsy and will not stay up.
