Works in one of our doors. Haven't tried in hotel yet.
I got this to have while traveling, so I can secure hotel room doors. I haven't had the chance to use it in a hotel yet, but I tried it here in two different doors here in my own home. It only worked in one of them, unfortunately. There is a minimum-size gap that is necessary for this device to slide into, and one of my doors doesn't have that. It did function as expected and described in our front door, though it took me a minute or two to understand and follow the directions. I don't know if hotel room doors are built to a particular standard or what, but I guess I'll just have to make sure I pack it next time I travel to find out. This thing is kind of big to travel with, but if I've driven to the destination, I guess that won't be a big deal. I'll update this review when I am able to test it in a hotel. For now, it gets three hopeful stars from me.

Heavy
I haven’t used this product yet but I wanted to note that it’s pretty heavy. Heavy enough to be concerned about luggage weight when you travel. So I’m going to have to put it in my purse when I fly. : (

It works
Easy to use fast to lock and unlock

Does not work of US standard door
Does not work of US standard door fixtures. The hole where the latch would go through is to small to work.

Very effective and easy to use!!
Wow, we are really impressed with this nifty portable door lock!! The hardest part was getting it out of the packaging - I do wish it was easier to separate the instructions since they’re printed on the back and the hard plastic left rough edges after cutting it up to set this nifty gadget free.I tried it on my office door, which has a good-sized gap, but we realized it doesn’t work on any of our inside doors upstairs (2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom). Then my husband suggested trying it on the back door which, due to the house settling and the changes in the weather as the wood expands/contracts, had the right sized gap to try this out. It works perfectly!! It does take a few seconds to get the hang of it but it’s not at all difficult and boy does it work!I’m giving it 4 stars for two reasons:1. It blocks the door SO well that I’m concerned about what would happen if the button ever fails, since that’s the only way to disengage the device (and allow the door to open). It’s a high price to be safe from burglars only to perish in a fire because you can’t get this off the door…!2. As shown in the listing, as well as my photos, It does stick out quite far from the door - I don’t know of a way around this but it’s worth noting and, if aesthetics are important, could be an issue for others.I originally ordered this for when I have to travel alone but after seeing how well it performed on our back door it looks like I’ll have to order another one!Thank you for reading my review, I hope it was helpful!

Couldn't get it to work on my doors
The hole where the latch would go seems to be off in size; at least for the doors in my home. They're doors from about 20 years ago so not sure if that's why...The device itself is very sturdy and seems like it would work! I want to try this out on a hotel door and will update my review if it works there.

SABRE Portable Door Lock
A simple and straightforward solution which should work in most situation where the door opens into the area to bolster a basic door lock particularly in temporary settings—for example when traveling. The gap between the door and door frame needs to be 2.5mm or greater for the lock to fit. Stated to withstand 600 pounds of force the unit has a sturdier feel than I expected. The mechanism works smoothly—easily sliding in place to secure or release it from the door. Also included is a fabric drawstring storage bag. If interested instructions are noted below. To install the lock open the door and line it up over the door’s strike plate opening with the secure latch in the opening and then close the door. Press the secure lock button on the white plastic locking block and slide it until it is snug against the door. When ready to remove press the button on the secure lock button and slide the locking block away from the door. Good portable lock for additional peace of mind.
