Chihwaseon (Drunk On Women & Poetry) DVD

I am an artist and haiku poet interested in traditional asian cultures. This exquisite synthesis of painting, music, costume, nature and landscape, and passion has been sublimely orchestrated. This is probably the greatest film ever made.

I watched this film in 2002 and I never forgot it. Almost every scene in it is a work of art itself, but not in a trendy, over sophisticated way. Watching this film is like a relaxed stroll through a gallery, except there is a human story unfolding at the same time. I don't know of any other film which compares to it, and I would thoroughly recommend it.

I bought what was advertised as a new DVD, and have just watched it for the first time. Unfortunately it turns out to be defective: it jumps forward several times so one misses whole chunks of the story. I had bought a new one precisely to avoid such a problem. Quality control clearly missed this. I await the seller's response.

I saw no-one had reviewed this dvd, so here goes. I first rented this years ago and was so taken with it I went on to buy myself a copy. A fascinating look at a period in Korean history. I loved it.
