Review: These Shades Are Amazing!!!!! - I have windows in my living room that are about 16 feet high and used to have the motorized cellular shades that I purchased from a popular national hardware store. I saw these and must admit, the price initially drew me in. But after all the customizations were made, the price more than doubled (and that is with discounts. I had 4 windows that I needed to replace the coverings. I started by ordering one shade to see how it would look. If you want to use and app or Alexa to control the shade, you will need to purchase a hub. The hub was can control multiple shades, so I only need to buy one to control my 4 shades. The hub is very easy to set up, using teh SmartThings App. Please not that you will have to be on 2.4 GHz wifi. There are two remotes that you can purchase. One remote can control up to 15 shades and teh other can control 5 shades. I will only have 4 shades at the most, so I went with the latter. There are about 18 customizations you need to make when picking your shade including: height, width, valance, side of motor, remote, hub, color, bottom rod type, roll position, inside or outside mount, motor type, and light blockers. I am very impressed with these shades. They operate very smoothly. They have an elegant look and are premium quality. The motor is very quiet and move smooth like butter. They are very easy to charge and install. It took me about 15 minutes per shade and most of that time was because I was working on a ladder 16 feet off the ground. The company's communication is awesome. After each of my orders, they emailed me one last time to confirm that I ordered the correct size. They also notified me when my orders shipped and provided a tracking number. The shades arrived very quickly. I would say a little over a week from me placing my order to them arriving at my house. That includes making and shipping. They were packaged very well and had everything that I needed to properly install them. If you purchased a remote. The shades or shade that you purchased with remote will come preprogramed to the remote. Any other subsequent shade purchased will have to be programmed to the remote separately, which is very easy to do. I ordered my remote with my first of 3 shades, so it was only programed to my first shade. I not only had to program the remote to my additional 2 shades that I purchased, but I had to erase the program of the orignal shade and reprogram it because I wanted it on a different channel on the remote other than the first one that I came preprogrammed at. As I mentioned, it was very easy though, using the directions provided. Adding them to the hub is even easier after they are programmed to the remote. I will admit that I hit a snag in my installation. I could not find the instructions for the hub and remote and was stuck. The video on youtube about this is wrong. It had me hitting the up bottom to lock in the program, but I should have been hitting the middle/stop button. Also, he is a nugget to get you started. The shades are sent in shipping mode to prevent unintentional operation in transit. You have to hold the program button to wake them up. I went with the outside mount over the inside mount option. They both allow a bit of ambient light through the edges. There is really no way around that. You can make it a bit better by making your shade bigger, but by making it bigger, you are also making it more expensive. So, you have to find a balance. I can accept the little light that I have coming from the edges of my shades. It looks like a halo effect to me. The shades themself are true blackout and blocks all light. I am very, very, very impressed with these shades and glad that I purchased them. I will say that they are not cheap though. I have already purchased 3 and have 1 more to go to complete my living room. I give these shades on of my highest recommendations. They are easy to set up and use. I like that I can control them with an app, a remote or Alexa (my favorite).
Review: Great units, fantastic customer support - Sept 2025 update: Still like the blinds but the rails aren't easy to deal with. Mine each have 3 holes for screws and came with white plastic "plugs" to place in the hole on the front to cover it. The plugs looks nice but they are thin and white so let a lot of light through, and that makes it very noticable there are holes there (everything is dark except three bright spots on each rail). And much worse than that, they stick into the rails a couple mm so depending on how far in the fabric is in the rail, the fabric can get stuck on the plugs and it bunches up. Eventually it's going to ruin the fabric. I haven't figured out how to safely cover the holes that looks nice and don't let light in. ===== I have 10 of these and will get 4 more. Total cost will be over $5000. All the blinds are big, and I bought side rails and solar panels for all of them, which added to the cost. My house is in an astronomy community where we value our dark skies, so I bought these blinds to keep light from exiting the house, not to keep light from entering. I realize I am not the market these blinds are made for. I had a LOT of questions before I bought my first unit, which I viewed as a test case. After ordering I received a mail that basically said, "are you sure your sizes are correct?". A nice touch. The unit came in 2-3 weeks, as advertised. I was impressed with the quality, the remote worked, and the unit hooked up to my desertcart Echo using the smart hub (which, by the way, has USB only for power, not data so mine is plugged into an outlet with a USB port on it). The blind passed the test, so I ordered 9 more. I had even more questions after the first unit arrived and before order # 2. Karen in support is FANTASTIC!!! Despite probably being the only customer who wants to keep light from escaping, she answered my questions. A few times she had to ask her coworkers which I appreciated versus taking a guess. The top of the unit where the motor is sticks out about 1" (2 cm) from the wall, so some light escapes there. I bought the side rails ("U" shaped metal that the blinds go up and down in). They block all the side light but because my walls are textured, some light escapes between the wall and the rail. And some light escapes between the wall and the bottom of the blinds, which are about 1 cm from the wall. I asked Karen about this. Her reply: ================== Thank you for your reply. According to your top and bottom light leakage situation, we currently provide you with the following solutions: 1. About the top, we will inform the factory to make some fabrics for you to place on the top to block the light. 2. As for the bottom, we are willing to make a separate side rail track for you to block the bottom light. Please let us know your opinion. ================== If that's not GREAT customer service, I don't know what is. I am not WEFFORT's intended customer and yet they are willing to work with me. About the units: * They are packaged well. Not a single problem with any of the 10 units, and one unit is 7 feet wide. * There is a piece of foam on both sides between the blinds and the side of the unit to keep the blinds from moving. Worked well and takes about 3 seconds to remove. The instructions mention this. * Since I'll have "only" 14 blinds, I only need 1 smart hub. I bought several of the 15-channel remotes - one per room/area. At some point I'll program them all the same so I can use any remote to open/close any blind. * The blinds are in a second home and I'm there about 4 months of the year. I expect to have guests when I'm not there so wanted something that's easy for them to use. * The blinds were easy to connect to my desertcart Echo's. I (or a guest) can say "Alexa, open all blinds" or "Alexa, open office blinds". * Because I don't want guests (or me) to have to charge the blinds I got the solar cells. NOTE: make sure you have them where you want them before pressing them on the window. I accidentally put one cell on with the cord on the wrong side, and it took 10 minutes to remove and ruined the tape. * During my next visit to the house I'll adjust the blinds so they don't go up all the way in order to block the view of the solar cells. It's pretty easy to do from the app on my phone. * Almost all the blinds are 84" tall (215 cm) and take 20-30 seconds to open/close. It would be nice if they moved faster, but it's not a big deal. I'd rather have slower with no problems than fast with problems. * You can hear them when they move but I'd say they are fairly "quiet", and the noise is a hum so is easy on the ears. * All the units came with optional extenders to move them farther away from the wall. I didn't need them, so I have 25 extenders. I'll see if I can recycle them, but it would have been nice to order without them, even if the price was the same. Keep them out of the landfill. Things I think could be improved: * The button you need to push to wake up the motor or to pair the blinds with the app is really tiny and in a hard-to-reach place, and it's hard to know if you pushed it. A bigger button or different place would be nice. * The location of the USB-C connector on the blinds is good if you need to charge the units (and the included USB cable is very long), but for attaching the solar cells the connector is in a terrible place (a 45-degree angle pointing down). I don't know how to run the cable so it doesn't show and am concerned the cable will eventually get stuck in the blinds. If there was a way to rotate the connector so it was at the top that would eliminate both problems. As a side note, I ordered the book of sample fabrics prior to my second, large order. It arrived at the post office before I ordered the units, but since the house is in the middle of nowhere (good for astronomy), I didn't know the book was delivered - unlike most desertcart orders, there were no texts/emails saying, "we shipped" and "it's delivered". I couldn't wait so I ordered the units before getting the book. I only knew the book was delivered when I got a "please post a review" email. That's the only "ding" I'd give the company. When I went to pick up the book I found that a package of side rails was also waiting for me. Strange, since all the other blinds came via UPS or FedEx. Their fantastic customer support more than makes up for the lack of delivery notices.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well Designed Quality Motorized Shades Update: Solar Panels Working 100% after One Year!
*by C***B on January 20, 2025*

Precise measuement of your window frames (if you mount the shades inside the window frame) is important. In my case, some window frames had apparently been tweaked during installation with spackle at the very top, which made a tight fit for the shade assembly. It is best to pay particular attention to precise measurements at the TOP of the frame (where the shade unit will reside). In my case I just measured a couple of places to determine the smallest frame width, but did NOT actually measure where the shade assembly would be installed at the very top of the inside frame. My bad, but some sanding made the shade assembly fit properly. I installed five shades of verious sizes in my bedroom, so ordered a five-channel remote control, which works fine. I discovered that while the remote allows selection of each of the five blinds, there is a sixth "channel" where all five of the channel LED's on the remote remain lighted. This "phantom" channel (pressing the channel select button in sequence until all LEDs are ON, not just individual channel LEDs) allows all the five windows to be controlled simultaneously with a single presss of he shade up or down key, similar to channel zero on the 15-channel remote. Each window shade came programmed properly so that the remote controller had each of its channels linked to a specific window shade. Each shade had a label indicating all its particulars (size, window name). When a shade is lowered to fully closed positon, a moment before reaching the window sill the shade shows down and eases gently into its fully down position. Nice touch. I ordered the Solar Panels for each shade, and they appear to be working fine. Time will tell if I will need to occasionally directly charge their batteries, but early indications are that the solar panels are doing their job. Screened windows and those facing North are not ideal locations for window-mounted solar panels. Shipping and packing was exemplary. Double cardboard packaging, plastic interior corner protectors, foam, and every possible shipping safeguard was used and the shades arrived unscathed. I was concerned that standard shipping might subject the shades to rough handling, so opted for the $100 expedited shipping offered by Amazon. It was worth the cost: shipping was by UPS Expedited, and the entire custom order took eleven days from day of order to delivery (from China !!). As mentioned in the instructions, each shade motor is turned OFF during shipping and needs to be rutned ON for operation. The ON/OFF button and motor charge port are covered during shipping with a small soft horseshoe shaped foam shipping cover that needs to be pried out and discarded to expose the motor assembly. I ordered the Weffort Roller Fabric blackout fabric samples booklet and it was well worh the small charge (arrived next day Prime). Weffort offers a gazillion blackout fabric samples and having the actual fabric in hand made ordering much easier. One of my windows is fairly wide, and three mounting attachmens were included in the order for that shade (they come attached to the top of the shade assembly during shipment). Based on my previous experience with mounting a wide motorized shade, in order for the shade assembly to snap into the three attachments screwed to the top of the inside frame they need to be precisely alighed with each other. The instructions indicate that the attachment brackets should be attached to the top of the shade assembly in their final locations, which then gets held up in it final position inside the window frame and the front edges of the three bracket marked in sharp pencil on the eindow frame so the brackets can then be removed from the frame and screwed precisely to the top of the window frame in their aligned positons. In my case I was working alone and manhandling the shade assembly up it its final position so I could mark the three bracket locations was not workable. I installed the two outside brackets, and to install the center third bracket I used a laser to align the center bracket front face with the two already installed side brackets so they were all in a precise line. If the center bracket is out of line, snapping the shade assembly reliably into the three brackets can be problematic. First choice: follow the directions for marking the location of the three brackets while they are temporarily attached to the top of the shade assembly, but that means two people need to be involved. Alternative is to install the two outside brackets and then precisely align the third center bracked with a laser, or streatched string. Before finally attempting to attach the shade assembly to the installed brackets be sure to study exactly how the brackets work (they have a small movale spring assembly mechanism), and when you aligh everything the shade assembly snaps into plece in each of the three mounting brackets. Much has been said about the quality of the Weffort motorized shades in other comments, and I wholeheartely agree. Every elements of the shades was of the highest quality, and all shades were perfectly aligned with my windows (alas, measure carefully the width of the opening at the very top of inside mounted shades). Measure again just to be sure. Double check the order before you hit "Buy" so that every one of your double-checked correct measurements appear error free in your order. I installed blackout shades for a bedroom, and while there is a small area along each side of the shade where some light comes through, I find it totally acceptable. If this installation was for a home theater and total darkness was required I might have considered the optional side brackets that help block light. After ordering my shades I visited the Weffort web site to read the FAQ's, only to discover that they were offering a substantial seasonal discount on orders over $600 (mine was double that cost). Having ordered on Amazon I was unaware of the discount, so missed out. It might be worthwhile to check the Weffort web site to make sure they are not offering a seasonal discount before ordering shades. In summary, a great experience buying very high quality, meticulously assembled and packaged Weffort motorized shades. UPDATE March 2025: I ordered another two large outside-mount blackout shades on March 22 and they arrived (from China to Maryland, U.S.A.) on March 28 , for a total of six days from order to delivery! I did not pay for expedited shipping, and as usual, customer support kept me posted on progress of the order and shipping date. They were shipped UPS, and because of the very meticulous packaging they arrived in perfect condition. Another great job by a first-class and customer focused vendor. Update on Feb 27, 2026: I have been using the solar panels that were options with the shades and they have exceeded my expectations. I have them on a total of seven shaded windows and in over one year I have not had to manually recharge any shade. They have all worked a minimum of two times per day, wihout fail. I am located in Maryland (East coast U.S.) and the solar panels are on windows that face North, East, and West, and each is installed on a window that has a window screen. So even violating the standard solar panel rules of: No North facing window, and Not obstructed by a window screen, these solar panels are defying expectations and are doing better than I ever hoped. Over one year+ of flawless option (yikes: solar panels even on two North facing windows that are "obstructed" by window screens?? You bet) including the solar panels with your order is a low-risk upgrade to these excellent shades.
