What I found is that you are probably going to want to use the extension even if your seedlings won't get that big before transplant. Without the extension on, PAR varies from 23 on LVL 1 up to 111 on LVL 10. That's too low for cannabis. When the extension is installed the PAR goes up a little more than 3x. LVL 1 is 73 and LVL 10 is 360. That is a perfectly acceptable range. Also, with the extension on you then have two side and two top vents. This will work better for air flow purposes. The point here is the instructions make no mention of this topic. It basically just says use the extension or not depending on plant height. After measuring the light output levels I would recommend that it should probably be used from the beginning. Keep on growing friends. Also you're going to want a thermo/humidity digital gauge to stick inside there.
