Not enough Negan moments
So glad there are spin offs to continue the TWD, but I was disappointed in the lack of Negan moments. Only one, funny and horrifying moment, "knock knock", in 6 episodes of a series dedicated to Negan. Gave it 4 stars while the original TWD gets 5. Also, it may not be worth paying the $15 to watch the season on Prime Video. Maggie is fine, same old same old seeking revenge.

I really want to like it
I absolutely LOVE The Walking Dead, and I've seen the entire series many times over. The spinoffs are universally awful, but since this one has two of the half dozen or so very best characters in the original series, I had high hopes. I've seen 4 of the 6 episodes so far, and I'm struggling. Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are great actors doing great work, as always, so it's not their fault. Here are my main issues:1. Negan's redemption narrative has already been told, at least twice. He served 8+ years in prison for his awful deeds, he helped save Alexandria and the Hilltop from the Whisperers, he helped Maggie fight the Reapers, and he rescued and protected Maggie's son when the Commonwealth baddies were doing their worst. Okay, fine, Maggie can't get over Negan bashing Glen's head in - that's understandable. But she keeps seeking him out and asking for his help, and he keeps eating humble pie. If she can't forgive him, she should stop asking him for help.2. This Croat guy...come on. Yes, a good, menacing baddie is essential to the plot, but really? Negan commanded a following with the Saviors because he was menacing yet charismatic, clever, and a good leader (by villanous standards - only a monster when he had to be). The Croat is a scrawny senior citizen with a ridiculous Count Chocula accent that would have been pummeled and crammed into a gym locker in the first 5 minutes of any apocalypse. He could be creepy as head torturer working for a real heavyweight like Negan, but he is no leader. I can't for one minute take him seriously as the main antagonist against real bad ass talent like Negan and Maggie.3. According to the timeline, we are now about 15 years past the Savior era. Everyone has done hard, savage things to stay alive or they wouldn't still be there. So why do Maggie and Negan keep sparing the law man whose sole purpose is to execute Negan? First, the sheriff was knocked unconscious while chasing them, and they just left him there, with his gun, alive. Then, when the Croat tosses the sheriff off the platform, Negan risks his own neck to save the guy. The same Negan who had just offed Luther simply because he wanted Negan and Maggie to leave, and Negan knew that would disrupt their rescue mission. It made no sense to spare the sheriff in the first instance, and was absurdly out of character to actually save him in the second. Predictably, the sheriff is unmoved by his life being saved, and still wants to kill Negan. No doubt this will serve the plot in some way, but it's not remotely plausible in the circumstances, and insults the audience's intelligence. Negan said himself he's only a monster when he has to be, and this is obviously an incident where he has to be.4. The best part of TWD wasn't the gore and the zombies, it was the great writing and character development. Any character could die at any time, which is true in all the spinoffs. The difference is in TWD, you are given ample time to know and love the characters first so you actually care if they die. It's pretty obvious with only two protagonists that Negan and Maggie are safe. The other characters are interchangeable, and I don't really care if they die. That may evolve as the series goes on, and I really hope it does. But the story arc needed a different build up. Starting in some sort of Mad Max hellscape was not the best approach. Loyal fans of TWD need to know up front that Hilltop, Alexandria, Oceanside and the Commonwealth still exist, and people have something to go back to that's worth living for. They also need to explain this sheriff guy - how much authority does he actually have? Where is the uber-powerful Commonwealth in all this, and why couldn't Maggie ask them for help? If they can do flashbacks to remind us that Negan used to do bad things, why can't they explain these few obvious plot threads?I will finish the first season, and if it starts to look up, I'll watch season 2. But although it's a million times better than World Beyond and Fear TWD, I am disappointed so far. I think they need to call Angela Kang in ASAP.

Beste van de 3 nieuwe shows van twd
Het is een goeie show met een goeie cast het brengt terug het slechtste maar ook het beste in Neghan naar boven vind deze show beter dan de Darryl dixon spin off en ook beter dan the ones who live maar die laatste was zeker ook goed
