Very user friendly and helpful for learning English
I actually purchased this as a gift for a new friend who is a Syrian Refugee and is working hard at learning English! She absolutely LOVES the simplicity and ease of use. Highly recommend this for Canadian English learners!

It's ok but I wouldn't choose it again
This is ok but could be better. The lessons are clear and useful, and there's a nice section about idioms in each one. However, I took care to buy the British version but there are still quite a few American English words that shouldn't be there. I bought it to help me teach English to an Arabic speaker, and it's very unhelpful to have words that we don't use in the UK. The parts with Arabic translations are also pretty sparse. They are the main reason why I chose this book over some others, so I was a bit disappointed and probably wouldn't choose it again.

One must already know writing and reading
If this is a beginner book, it is already a poor choice. The author assumes people can already read and write our alphabet. It mixes several of the verb tenses together at the same time, when beginners need to concentrate first on learning the present tense. Needless to say after purchasing it on Amazon I was extremely disappointed and asked for a refund. As an ESL teacher this book was unsuitable for my truly beginning students. The authors other books in this line are just as disappointing. The others are only good for very advanced students with a CLB of 7 or higher.
