This projects a red dot on to the sky on or near the object in view. The brightness can be adjusted using an on/off dial. The altitude and azimuth are also adjustable using knobs. This is far better than earlier versions I have used by other manufacturers that had screws for adjustments. Fumbling with a screwdriver and screws in the dark is not much fun, especially while holding the telescope steady in the meantime. The red dot projected is quite bright even at the low setting. The piece I received had some loose screws which made the whole unit wobble, but once tightened, the adjustment knobs worked reasonably well. I was however, not able to position the dot exactly on the object. It probably requires more practice. Overall, a great product!

Optical finderscope is a struggle in itself and a lot of time is wasted setting it everytime you are out for viewing. This works well and took 5 minutes to set - doesn't move from its position. Using it on powerseeker 127. Comes with 4 types of mounts for celestron telescopes which is a plus.

This product is good but they did not provide the stand for it as expected.otherwise it is good so 3 stars.

I have a GSO 10" dobsonian. The dovetail mount of this finderscope fits in the telescope's mounting bracket perfectly. The horizontal and vertical adjustment dials also make it a cinch to align the finderscope with the telescope main mirror. The sight gives an impression of the red dot being projected to infinity. I could not detect any parallax movement of the red dot when moving my eye. It can be made sufficiently dim or bright as per your need. I would recommend this finder for any observation that is less than 250x magnification. For higher magnifications, you are better off with a precisely aligned magnifying finderscope.
