It has not rattles when installed and comes off quickly so there's no need to permanently keep the cargo box attached when not needed. The issue, however, is with the quick detach base that this cargo box attaches to. The base itself works great once properly installed but the mounting components (t-slot bolts) it came with were problematic and one of them failed.
