AshfordFringe Twister

When I wove a large Rio Grande rug at 8 epi, I knew I did not want the fringe getting straggly looking. I have no practice doing four strand braiding, and didn't think this was an appropriate project to start on. It was a lot of work, which was physically challenging, since we were weaving for eight hours a day on standing/walking looms, and having braids which started off looking amateur was not the look I was going for. The fringe twister I have works for a maximum of three strands. So, I looked at all the options online, and chose this one. I had a lot of fringe to twist, and it was really helpful to be able to clamp this down firmly: much easier on my hands and arms, as well as the rug. I’ve used other methods and tools to finish and protect the fringe on my woven or knitted creations, but they were time consuming, sometimes cumbersome, and sometimes made my arthritic hands hurt. Fortunately, with all the finishing I had to do on items this past holiday season, Anderson’s Appliances had the Ashford fringe twister in stock and shipped it very promptly to me, so I was able to readily complete everything within the deadlines, and without torturing my hands. I found the Ashford fringe twister to be sturdy, well made, and nicely sanded (no snagging of yarn, yay!), and it was a breeze to use, with Ashford’s clamp (included in the box) to hold the twister to the work surface. I watched Ashford’s how-to video on YouTube, and I was easily able to make beautiful, professional-looking fringe from the first try. Very pleased.

I had purchased a cheaper one and the metal attaching the clip was weak, bent easily and finally broke. So I bought this Ashford one and it is much sturdier, looks and feels like it will last. I put WD40 on a q-tip and rubbed that on the metal rods which stopped the squeaking. The action on this twister is very smooth and worth the price.

This gadget works well for making a twisted fringe. I especially liked the fact that it clamps on the table and is stationary. I am well satisfied with this purchase

By hand? Never again. This fringe twister is terrific and saved time. Count how many turns and your fringe comes out perfect.
