Great for kayak
I really like this downrigger. It’s simple and mechanical only, lightweight, and easy to use. I use it kayak fishing in the ocean. It seems durable and resistant to rust. I’ve had it for a couple of years and it has been outdoors on a boat in a saltwater environment. I spray it heavily with a hose after each use. Very good product.

Perfect for my kayak
I peddle a hobie revolution 13 and this down rigger fits perfect on my kayak for trolling Kokanee. I’m happy with the price and quality

Works great on my kayak and aluminum boat
I just bought a second one. I use mine between my sit in pelican kayak and my 12’ Aluminum fishing boat. I will only use the second one on my fishing boat. The first thing I did though was change out the metal cable for 200’ braided line. One reason is it’s easier to cut free in an emergency and the other reason is the metal cable makes an awful harmonic sound. Using the 4lb ball it was hard to troll at 40’ because of the blow back. With the 6lb ball I can hit 65’ no issues probably even deeper. When using this down rigger in the kayak it was a bit tricky to setup. I had to mount the ball behind me enough so I didn’t hit with my paddle stroke. When it was mounted in front of me the swinging side to side made the kayak unstable. In the back no problem. Then I had to stick the rod forward and out to the side so I could see it and still paddle. Getting the ball down is tricky you paddle lower paddle lower basically, but at the end of the day I can troll at 65’ with a $300 paddle kayak and catch trout so I’m very happy.

Deep Fishing
I now have three of these on my 18 ft Fisher Pontoon boat. I love the ability it gives me to get down to the depth that I can see the fish are located on my fishfinder. I thought that it may be good to have a longer boom, but now I find that it only needs to be long enough to get your weight over the side of the boat and into the water. You can spend a lot more money for the extendable boom and the electrical retrieval, but you won't catch any more fish. I have even used it to stack two poles on each down rigger and it works great. I'm a happy fisherman.

Easy install with "Brocraft Mounts"
Very compact and easy to use and store when not in use. Perfect for 17" my Lowe's Roughneck. Poped it into my existing Brocraft holder mount and presto all installed. I only troll 10" to 25" of water so cranking not a problem when resetting for the next catch. Drops about 1 foot per full revolution of the horizontal wheel. Pop it out of mount for safe storage or rotate it 90 degrees for launching and loading. You can't beat the lifetime warranty.

catches fish
We use these with a Scotty oar lock mount on our 12' aluminum boat (they're not as cool as the Scotty 1106 electric downriggers with 6' boom, but...) These are lightweight and effective in getting down to the Kokanee. They also work well with the Scotty clamp mount. (No, I don't work for Scotty, but they make pretty good/useful fishing gear).

Downrigger
Overall product is good . I use this on my hobie PA 12 while trolling . The wire that it comes with can be very annoying in the water , makes a humming noise . After one trip out I had to swap it out for braid which is 100 times quieter and feels like less drag when out in water

Decent downrigger
Easy to install, compact and can easily be seen on the fishfinder with a 4 lb. ball. I set mine up with dual releases. One at the ball and a second self surfacing from Macks Lures. There is a definite wine from the stainless cable. You don't really notice it if there are gabby people in the boat. Some people have changed this out to braid. All my rodholders are Scotty also.

Good little units.
Good quality, real Scotty brand. They don’t have a counter on them (which is the biggest drawback on these). They also only come with 100’ cable. So most people will need to buy longer ones. Other then that, they work well, and crank heavy balls up easily.I mounted them on my pontoon boat and they are compatible with all my Scotty rod holders.

Awesome price, great bit of kit
This downrigger was nearly half the retail price so I purchased 2, I also purchased the extra part to be able to rail mount (part #242]. I have had these little riggers before and they are awesome. Items arrived within 2 days, I was really happy with the service and product. AAA+++111
