The Growlers are an American band formed in Southern California who's sound has been described as a trademark style of music, effortlessly managing to combine eclectic elements of country, lo-fi punk, surf/psych/garage rock, Tex-Mex, and slacker/stoner/skate culture into something that is uniquely their own. Known for their relentless touring schedule and DIY work ethic, the band is one of the most exciting independent success stories of recent years. The band has toured with The Black Keyes, Dr. Dogg, Devendra Banhart, and Jonathan Richman, among others. Album produced by Julian Casablancas (first album produced) & Shawn Everett (Grammy Award Winner for engineering with Alabama Shakes), Co-Mixed by Ben Baptie (The Growlers, Adele, Arcade Fire, U2).

City Club is an absolute joy to listen to
The Growlers bring a interesting and addicting sound with their "beach goth" style. Although a bit more refined (re: produced) in comparison to their earlier works (Chinese Fountain and before), City Club is an absolute joy to listen to. These days it can be hard to find and album that has quality across the tracks such that one can listen through the whole album from start to finish, again and again. City Club is just that.

Sounds pretty generic but there are a few really good songs in there. Nowhere near as addictive as Hung At Heart or Chinese Fountain. Fine background music.

the Strokes
Grizzlier Strokes, nice collaboration...I haven't researched but this is the foundation of the Strokes or the regular weekend Jam for fun a la Strokes or just Producer credit from some Casablanca Stroker. Anyways, impresses more than the seminal Strokes album, although time distorts memory.
