can you use this in a docking station?

You would need a had drive enclosure to start with. The following is a general statement:- The docking station is suitable for both 2.5 and 3.5 inch HDD / SSD hard disks. With a USB 3.0 interface this docking station supports hard disks with a super fast data transfer rate of 5Gbps, which is no less than 10 times faster than USB 2.0!

Would this work in a human hdr 1010s freest box, to replace a faulty / non working hard drive?

I fitted this one to my Humax "Foxsat" and works perfectly. The Pipeline models are recommended to this sort of application as they are very quite! My model is one of the earlier models. Make sure your model has a 3.5 drive.

I use mine in a pvr and have no personal experience of using it for cctv. I see a review of the unit on newegg that states "Worked great inside my DVR and Home Security system. to fit this in foxsat hdr do i need yo buy jumper for pins or will it work without jumper

Fitted it in a Humax HDR Fox T2 running custom software 3.10 (build 2734) over Humax 1.03.12.Simply unplugged the old drive and put the new one in. SATA drives don't need jumpers. If the foxsat has a PATA drive then you need to buy an alternative replacement (if you can get one) or find a way of fitting a SATA to PATA link into the box, there should be plenty of room.On reboot got the message that it needed formatting so did it.Some of the custom software needed re-installation but it had retained the bits loaded originally from the USB stick so very easy & quick.Working fine for 2 weeks now.
