Fluid suction extracting
This thing really sucks good. Makes changing fluid, especially transmission fluid easy. Great for a home mechanic to change transmission fluid from the dipstick. I decided that if I suck out the pan fluid from my transmission often enough that will be good enough. Keep in mind that if you use this to change transmission fluid, there will be lots of fluid left in the torque converter. It will require you to drive the car and repeat the procedure in order to get the majority of the dirt out. I own several vehicles, and I use this method for servicing my transmission because of the expense of doing a flush at a dealer or professional shop.

It does work
The instructions that come with the extractor is garbage. Use the diagrams in this listing instead. When I first tried extracting, the extractor couldn't maintain vacuum, so the oil would flow back after a sec or 2 after I stop pumping. I removed the lid and looked at the top and it looks fine. Copper plug in. Pneu valve closed. Pressed hard on all the connections and seem tight. Tried again and this time saw the oil being sucked out properly. Maybe the lid wasn't on tight. It is slower than removing the drain plug but this seems to have remove most, if not all of the oil from my Grand Cherokee 3.6 v6. I did have to wiggle and change depths when it got near the end to get more out.A few observations.1, the reinforced flexible hose is great but it had a tendency to stick to the car panels.2, the "nut leak-proof design" as shown in the images on the end of the main hose. I have no idea what that nut/collar does. The main hose is connected by just pressing it into the hole, which lays on top of this nut. You would think the collar would catch the edge and hold it in place but nope. Just pull at the end of the main hose and it comes right off with a hole on the lid. So it's really not safe to transport the extractor to the local shop for dumping. You'll want to empty your your extractor into the original oil containers or something else.3, hose storage hole is too small to hold all the hoses this comes with. I'm able to run the dipstick into another but just a tad too tight. Also all the hoses will extend well past top of the extractor and get in the way.If this technique works for your vehicle and the oil filter is up top, I would still recommend this extractor bc it does work well even though it's 99% plastic.

Nice heavy materials
The media could not be loaded. I was pleasantly surprised by the sturdiness of the materials. The reservoir seals well so no leaks so far. I also liked that out of the box, no assembly was required. This is a great addition to our home tools for home auto repair.

Oil
Very good use This 2 gallon vacuum brake bleeder was so much easier than anything else I had tried, easy to use and easy to pour out the fluid once used, I definitely recommend it.
