Q: Are these waterproof? suitable for a river?

Yes! I use them around water all the time and they are perfectly waterproof. Great for wading, but not too far because the top of the boot reaches about mid-calf. Hope that helps!

Q: Is There room to tuck pant leg in?

There is room for pants in these boots. I would highly recommend. I've been wearing mine for 4 years now, no holes in the bottom. I do put inserts inside to help stabilize my ankles and there is room for them also. They keep your feet cool enough (as much as rubber boots can) and warm enough in the winter. I do not put any extra socks in my pants and milk and do chores in 30 degree and -25 degree weather more comfortably than in any other boot. I would not buy any other chore boot. Have a replacement Bekina waiting just in case mine wear out.

Q: What are the comparable sizes for women?

I normally wear a size 9-9 1/2 womens show. I wear a size 8 in this bekina boot. This also leave me room for an insert to give me more arch support and wear a boot sock. They are the best boots out there for choring. I spend approximately 4 hours a choring session and lots of time outside in the yard with these boots. They last and last, don't develop holes or wear cracks in them. I am on my second pair in 10 years and have another waiting in case something should happen to those I am presently wearing. I replace the inserts more than the boots.
