made me laugh and smile and I adored all the unconventional weird personalities
The blurb on this one really appealed to me.I do so love me an unrepentant grumpy rude alpha and Hayes is this in absolute spades. The man has no filter whatsoever if he thinks it, it’s coming out of his mouth and if you can’t take it well he’s not actually bothered and has no plans on changing anything about himself to please others.he’s unrepentantly obnoxious, foul-mouthed and a force to be reckoned with in white horse and he just doesn’t care who he has to mow through to get the job done.In fact, he owns this town and along with his hired muscle police’s it with fear and intimidation and nothing gets by his notice. He’s not a bad guy if you toe the line and play by his rules. He can’t keep an assistant on account of his outward persona not only is he as intimidating as all hell all the yelling and bluster the man is built like a brick-house all 6 and a half foot of him.Enter Candy back in town with her twin's cricket and chipper in tow and definitely in need of employment. She’s strong sassy and equally as sharp and blunt as Hayes himself. She takes every bit of Hayes gruff and just throws it right back at him. She’s not easily spooked and doesn’t give a tot what people think of her. Including him. She’s almost like the female version and Hayes is fascinated not that he lets her know it can’t have someone having that kind of power over him.So this was such an easy low angst read.It was highly amusing and low drama relying on the amusing back forth banter between Hayes and candy to carry the story. And it worked this was highly enjoyable and even though I don’t read that many straight forward contemporary romance nowadays I’m glad I gave this one a chance. It made me laugh and smile and I adored all the unconventional weird personalities throughout. This one gets a thumbs up from me.If your just looking for something light and easy to hangout with this book is the one for you.

Not good! Oh boy not good!
A high schooler should write with more competency. Terrible grammar, terrible story and awful characters. Liked the title of the book, but that's the only good thing I can say. A book needs more than a guy yelling and shouting all the time to make him an alpha. He didn't make me want to keep reading. As for the heroine, she was horrible. Completely unlikable with a foul mouth and akways saying ridiculous, cringe worthy things. Which I'm guessing was the author trying to make her tough but made her trashy instead. Like warning about being a ball kicker, as in guys balls, it was just so forced and not funny, that whole scene was not good. She says she had the twins to a boring, plain looking man, she didn't love or feel anything for, who lacked in appearance and personality, because he made up for those with his families wealth. She just wasn't a nice heroine. Then there were stupid plot points like her being broke. Really? She literally just said she only had kids to a rich guy for the sole reason that he was rich but despite having his kids, she didn't get any money for the kids? Um...child support! Then apparently the grandparents will leave a huge inheritance to the kids but not make sure they have money now when they need it? Made no sense at all! Didn't finish the book because I didn't like the constant hard a** behaviour of the characters, or the the writting.

An interesting read😆
I decided on 4 stars because I feel like the story slightly lacked the bond between Angus and the twins.I will say I loved the banter and name calling with Angus and Candy it was so refreshing to read a seriously Foul mouthed, hard edge male that was for lack of a better word a dick.I felt very sad for honey her situation was bleak, I felt the conversations about the family was repetitive- it didn't move on, no resolution just a mention each time the sisters spoke. All in all a good read I like the bluntness the swearing and attitude the main characters had, far too many romance novels are sugary sweet for my liking.

Big and Beautiful
These guys are criminals and live on the edge of society. Misfits in their own skin and at odds with the world. Men who if you saw them coming and had sense you would cross the road to avoid them. But a girl with the name of a stripper is more than a match for this grouchy loner and she isn't afraid to use her secret weapon, well two secret weapons namely her twin son and daughter who decide he is the perfect father figure they have always longed for. Great addition in the series of criminal men who do have a soft side when they meet their mate. Good humour, lots of swear words and edgy. Loved it

Best surprise I've received in a long while
You know those books that you shouldn't like but you end up loving them? Books so vulgar and inappropriate and ridiculous that you're at once shocked and appalled and end up laughing your freaking ass off? Books that seem so real, you find it hard to let go of not just the characters but the story itself? That's this book. Junkyard Dog is a hidden gem and I'm so glad I happened across it.“So she’s like a girl version of you.” “Yeah.” “No wonder you love her. You’ve always been arrogant,” he says, winking at me and then sliding out of the cart. “Figures you’d want to marry yourself.”Angus is a giant man. Large in stature and large in life. He's scary and rules his town with an iron fist. He smacks fools for fun and has no tolerance for just about anything. He trusts no one and refuses to allow anyone in to see his vulnerabilities. His life changes, for the better, when Candy walks into his office and makes her presence known. She doesn't fear him. This chick doesn't know what fear is. She's a single mom and figures she's already doing the toughest job in the world so how hard could it be to work for this guy. Two volatile personalities, two people who refuse to back down, two characters who love and fight hard, and these people find out they are more alike than not.LOVED THIS STORY!!Honestly, I've never heard of this author and if it weren't for Isabella R., I probably never would have picked this book up. The cover doesn't grab me and I'd be more likely to pass on it because of the way it looks than to give it a chance on my own. So thanks Isabella!! If not for her, I wouldn't have discovered the raw energy that permeated this story and fallen in love with not only these characters but the way they were written. You best believe I'll be reading more from this author!!

5 Balls of Brass Stars ⭐️
When you judge a book by its cover....you miss out!I’ve looked at Junkyard Dog in passing a few times. Although the blurb has always intrigued me, the dated cover in my opinion has always put me off. After a fellow Goodreads friend raved about this book it was time to pull my head in and try this book and I was rewarded. It took one chapter and then I was hooked.Candy, a single mother of twins has moved to a new town and is in serious need of a job. She hears of a position vacant because the owner Angus Hayes is going through his temps at an unspeakable rate. His reputation of being unbearable, rude, dangerous, and a total ass is incredibly true. This does not faze Candy, she’s handled worse. Not only did this author write a hero that is perfectly foul, but our heroine has enough sass and brass balls to make Hayes look like a pussycat. She totally nailed it.This book is about two unlovable characters that prove that two wrongs do make a right. It was disturbingly funny, unapologetically dirty, and the verbal interactions between Candy and Hayes; priceless. Throw in the two adorable twins and I REALLY liked it.

I wish I found Junkyard Dog sooner
This is a great slow burn romantic comedy that lets two confident stubborn people fall in love but never get sappy or soft on each other. I love their banter, I love how they express their desire for each other through their honesty about their fears of change if they decide to commit to each other. Bijou Hunter is a pro at letting her characters speak and think truths on real life relationship vulnerabilities, but she still manages to keep her stories humorous, light and sexy.

Great sarcastic banter
This was my first Bijou Hunter novel , an angst free tale full of clever sarcastic repartee. In fact I'd go so far as to say that Bijou is probably the queen of sarcasm, Angus really was like a snarling junkyard dog, and Candy a strong and feisty young woman. A really enjoyable read that kept pulling me back until the end.

Unlikable main characters
I liked Gator, so I thought I would like this book as well, but no such luck.My biggest problem is that I didn't like the MC's. The h was supposed to be snarky, but instead she came over as trashy. She swore in front of her 9 year olds and didn't care if other people did it as well. She also got pregnant against the wishes of her ex boyfriend. The H, was probably a sociopath. He assaulted, killed and maimed without compunction for no reason. In other books with anti-heroes a reason for their actions are usually given (like being born into violence or doing it to survive etc.). The H was just a bully and horrible person since childhood, even though he grew up in a normal loving family.I don't understand the reasons for any of his actions and so I have to conclude he is a sociopath. Not ideal for the future step father of 2 kids.Other than the above, the book also had a bunch of grammatical errors and everything was told, not shown.I'm glad the book was free.

A NEW FAVORITE!!!
WHY OH WHY did it take me so long to read this story?! I've had this on my Kindle for quite a while and completely forgot about it. I was recommend this story thought okay, might as well, I already own it... I MUST BE CRAZY!! This book was AWESOME!!The main characters (who both have bad mouths, lol) were a match made in heaven. I loved the crass and bold way they spoke to each other and how they were able to understand when it was serious and when it was play time. I have read a few reviews that were not happy with this story but I have to say it was the perfect fir for me. I love brash characters and ones that speak their mind. This story stands out as a real one, with real characters, real heart and really (dirty) mouths!!I could not me more excited that I read this story yo better believe I am reading the rest of this series ASAP! The heart in this story was amazing and I loved the HEA. It was just such fun to read! Oh, and it is title PERFECTLY! Angus really did remind me of an old Junkyard dog!! Must Read, Favorites List, Highly Recommend!!!

Hilarious and enjoyable!
Junkyard Dog by Bijou Hunter started the White Horse series. I met Angus and Candy in later series and had to back track to get their story. They were hilarious then, and even better now!Angus Hayes was a fierce, mean and controlling leader of the small White Horse town. He owned several businesses, was rich, trusted no one, was feared by all and ran the town with an iron fist.Candy Wilburn was a sassy, feisty, snarky, sarcastic and independent single mother to twins. She moved to White Horse to start over and be near her sister.Candy and Hayes met when she interviewed for his assistant position and she took over the interview giving him no choice but to hire her.I really loved this story. Hunter weaved the tale with an abundance of humor and lots of feels. I also loved that there wasn’t a lot of drama outside the relationship development but enough detail to get the lay of the land around them. Having read several series that already had Candy and Hayes together, Junkyard Dog brought everything full circle for me; which was probably why I didn’t mind there wasn’t a secondary story outside their relationship. I probably would have felt differently had I not already read other books involving them.In the end, it was a fairly quick read, was hilarious, enjoyable and entertaining. It also set the stage for the offspring stories of Cap, Cricket and Chipper. As a side note, I totally want a Moot and Honey book; there is a great story there to be told.

Junkyard Dog is Great Title
If you have read some of the other Bijou Hunter books, then you have met Angus Hayes. In previous books, Angus made cameo appearances as the "unofficial" leader of the small town of White Horse, which he runs with a crowbar and an iron fist. Angus is a rude, uncouth BIG man with a booming voice and as much sarcasm as Japan has rice. Angus is also know for going through secretaries to the point that the temporary agencies almost can't find a person willing to go and just answer the phones. After a few hours, most of them sit at the desk and cry until quitting time and never return.Candy Wilburn and her twin children are new in town. Candy chose White Horse because her sister is a resident, and she needs a job desperately. Finding out the need for a secretary for Angus Hayes, Candy decides NO ONE is going to stop her from getting the job, keeping it and using it as a much needed financial springboard - even Angus himself.I simply adored the book. From the very first moment these two volatile personalities meet sparks fly, as well as snarky banter. Both are instantly attracted to each other and can't believe it...will they be able to have a relationship and maintain the business relationship? More important will they be able to have a relationship and keep from killing each other?I have now read several of Hunter's books, and I love the funny, sarcastic directions they are now going in, and definitely plan to buy more. I didn't think it was possible for Hunter to match Black Sheep, but she did it. Kudos!

Enjoyed
Candy and Hayes are not your typical couple, full of feelings and romance but the love is certainly there...but in their own way. I love the banter between them and although some of the reviewers didn’t appreciate their language it really didn’t bother me. They were very secure of who they were and were not. I didn’t find it distracting or mean-spirited just looked at it like this is them and that’s one of the reasons they connect. I loved Candy’s strength and her love for her children and Hayes although a tough mofo he was all in once he realized that Candy was more than his assistant or chick that was a “looker” that he wanted to hook-up with. For folks that can’t deal with inappropriate language skip this book. The language may be off putting, especially if folks are opposed to someone calling a person disrespectful names. Not condoning it but again they didn’t allow it to define them. In the end, I really enjoyed the book, a very quick read and pleasantly entertaining.

Hot and hilarious!
Candy and Hayes’ story is hilarious! This book was free and I had never read anything from this author before so I thought, “Why not!” I laughed so hard at the back and forth between these memorable chatacters that I couldn’t get the smile off my face. This book is funny, sexy and worth the ride. Do yourself a favor and order all the books in this series because you’re going to want to binge read them like I did. Bijou Hunter has become a one click for me and in my top 5 authors list. Have fun!

The quick, witty banters got me going
This is my first time reading a book from this author and while I find some scenes hilarious and some banters witty and the humor is sarcastic, I need more in the story. There was lack of conflict and foundation. The language was crass, rude and maybe absurd at times as well as the attitudes of both main characters but those actually got me going when reading this book. It ends up being the main source of my entertainment. If you love people who hate people on the daily, this book is for you. I gave it 3 stars because of the lack of conflict, lack of foundation and meat in the very story and there was no steam during the (sexy) banters and s-e-x scenes.
