The Boondocks (Season 1)

This is the best of the post-Simpsons family cartoons to come out of the USA. Not because it is the funniest, though there are plenty of laugh out loud moments. It is the best because like Aaron McGruder's original strip cartoon, it deals with the usually unspoken, and terrible, issues of race, identity and power in the USA through wit, satire and farce rather than lugubrious political correctness. Martin Luther King's return to the contemporary (mid-2000s) world of apolitical hedonism - his 'dream' become a nightmare - is superbly done. So as you'd imagine from the subject matter Boondocks has been 'controversial'; in other words, people who tend to be offended by this type of thing have tended to find it offensive, and in the land of supposed freedom of speech, the right not to be offended acts as an awful censor. Nonetheless, seems to have survived the PC brigade's attempts to keep the unspeakable unsaid: good news.

I saw one episode of The Boondocks at a friend's house and laughed so hard, I had sore abs later. Too check it wasn't a fluke, I bought the box set and was extremely impressed by the consistency of material.As well as being funny, the series challenges with many thought-provoking scenes which act as social commentary but are never preachy. Sometimes damning, sometimes sympathetic BUT never dull, The Boondocks is edgy and entertaining.

Okay so this ships from abroad and is Dutch but it plays fine on a multi-region/hacked DVD player.Love this and still have a good giggle over the anal rape in prison scenes. The perfect illustration of the foundation of homophobia. :P

So funny don't know how this was allowed to be produced. I love the boondocks

Just another instal lament from the first season. Where some comedy's start great and then start to diminish in that sharp quality you first saw, there are no such issues with this. Absolutely wicked.

I have been an adamant watcher of this show since i first discovered it. I have not yet purchased the DVD but believe it to be excellent intellectualy stimulating comedy. I am also an avid fan of Southpark and carlos mencia if that helps you make up your mind one way or another. The comedy can be a little dark and off beat sometimes but then again thats the stuff i like best. This show has thsome of the greatest and most unforgettable characters i've ever seen. All things considered i highly recommend this show and plan to buy the season on DVD soon. Hopefully it will be full of extra's and who Knows maybe they'll give Uncle Ruckus his own show.

This first season of The Boondocks was, and still is, the best ever! Definitely ahead of it's time with regards to cartoons in it's era, and reminds me of the old Wait 'Til Your Father Gets Home for it's adult humor. There was a reason this show was shown on Adult Swim (Cartoon Network), back in the day. Watching these UMD Discs with the Sony PSP made for easy entertainment on demand, with excellent picture and sound quality!

It arrived fast as lightning and in perfect condition. It's the complete first season uncensored(unfortunatly, it's kinda pointless). It comes on 3 UMD's and nice packaging and episodes guide, and it's really funny. Also it works on a euro PSP.

Love this I have it on regular DVD and now on UMD. If you have never seen the Boondocks then you're missing out on a real gut buster. I watch this on a daily basis and laugh every time. I can't wait to get the second season on UMD.

I purchased the boondocks for my psp3001 & its amazing how brilliant the colors are & the humour although hardcore for some but to me its worth every dollar & i plan on ordering more either for my psp or on dvd. thanks amazon.
