SoulCalibur: New Legends of Project Soul

I bought this for my sister and she absolutely loved it.

After starting my collection, this has to be my favourite art book yet. I am a huge fan of the Soul Calibur series and this art book doesn't disappoint.About the game:Soul Calibur V is a 2012 fighting game by Namco who is also responsible for games like Tekken and the Tales Of RPGs. The 6th installment of the phenomenal Soul series, Soul Calibur V got mainly mixed to negative reception but from artistic standpoint it reigns supreme!What to expect:Characters, a great lot of them! If you're a lore aficionado, there is also heaps of text relating to the world of the Soul series and beyond. The characters in this book are mainly the ones playable in Soul Calibur V, the rest of the characters from previous games aren't all that in depth but is understandable.Also, there are a handful of stages and weapons each character wields. Each are strikingly detailed.The content:Every playable character and stage in SCV is featured in this book, as well as the fighters' weapons.Most characters have designs that never made it too. If you love to see what the developers' intentions were then it's definitely good for that.There is a mighty amount of text ranging from the lore, character profiles, developer commentary and interviews on Namco's ambitions.The Looks:Everything in this game's visual part of things are just gorgeous. From the beautiful women to the amazing medieval setting. I tell you what, the amount of characters in Soul Calibur V may be underwhelming but the fighters themselves are intricately detailed and a whole lot of thought has gone into them.There are only a few stages that are a little bland but the rest are about as detailed as the fighters themselves. Which is hard to achieve.The Detail:Pretty much all fighters have design sketches and a ton of detailed work to show how they have designed the characters. Some though, only have splash artwork. Only 4 are like that and you could at least get the idea of their design. Thankfully though, there has been no concept art publicly exposed anyway of these few characters.The stages have enough pictures to get the idea of how they look. There are a few concept arts of these stages put in too. The fighters' weapons are on their pages and are composed of one of their weapons (their main 1p weapons). Unfortunately, all of the characters' 2p and extra weapons didn't make it.Verdict:Minus the few hiccups, this is my favourite book in my collection. Fighting game fans, artists and anime fans will have a blast looking at some of the best artwork and visuals I've seen in a fighting game.This book has my approval.

I will be honest and state that I was not really a fan of SC5 with it going the route of starring the kids of the main cast instead...anyone remember Toshinden 4??? I always loved the Soul Calibur artwork and when I saw that an art-book was available, I jumped at the opportunity no matter what entry it was based on.This is a really nice well rounded art-book consisting of history, character biographies, interviews and sketches. One of the main things I look for in an art-book are sketches, as I prefer to see the pencil work that went into creating these amazing characters designs. This book does not disappoint when it comes to sketches, including them into the character bios and dedicating a section in the last quarter specifically to storyboard and character design.This book is not hardcover which may seem as a con to some. I actually prefer soft cover, as it makes it much easier to flip through while admiring the artwork and looking for inspiration.If you like Soul Calibur in general or just the artwork and design, it is definitely worth a pick up for admiration of the artwork and addition to your library.

Ótimo livro sobre a série Soul Calibur, com grande foco no quinto jogo da franquia, e algumas seções destinadas aos personagens presentes em SCIV. O material das páginas é muito bom, tem boa impressão e gramatura. O único ponto baixo fica para a capa do encadernado, sendo um papel cartão com laminação brilhosa, a lombada é quadrada. Como um todo o produto é muito bom e está todo em inglês.O conteúdo possui história dos personagens, fichas, história do mundo do jogo, rascunhos e artworks, e muitas informações extas como curiosidades e entrevistas. Para quem gosta da série vale a pena, mesmo com um grande foco no 5.

Está enfocado en el SC5 y habla más de los personajes nuevos que de los de antaño, como se puede deducir de la portada. El formato es en pasta blanda

fun read, I am a nintendo guy so I haven't been able to keep up with the soul series, this book really filled me in.To bad Soulcalibur is about alive as Metroid
