Excellent mini canister filter
Perfect for anyone with a nano aquarium that wants the features of a canister filter, but without the space normally required. It’s compact, perfectly powered, and couldn’t be better suited for my 5 gallon aquascape.Pro’s:Adjustable flowNearly silentSurface skimmerCompactAdjustable outlet nozzle and directionCustomizable media storageCon’s:None, assuming you’re not trying to utilize it as a primary filtration source for a large tank.Notable:This would be an excellent supplementary filter for a larger tank that needs specific, temporary filtration such as medication removal, filter floss/clarifying after maintenance, carbon for organic removal, granular ferric oxide/phosguard for phosphate removal, zeolite for ammonia removal, etc.

very weak filter
I got this as a backup filter for my 20 gallon to replace a internal filter. This does not have enough flow to be effective at all, also there is very small area for media. You are much better off with a small hang on the back filter.

ALMOST PERFECT, but major flaws for my setup and needs.1.5 stars for my needs :/
I love this little filter system. If I had to rate any filter system I've purchased, I would rate this the best--better than anything from Aqueon, Tetra, Marineland, etc. This is seriously an amazing little device! It's plenty of water movement for a tank as large as a 75 gallon, especially considering that you can filter a 75 gallon with a sponge filter! Better yet, it's great for controlling my duckweed/salvinia because it creates just enough surface movement to irritate them out of thriving and taking over. I love it!Pros:The best surface skimmer I've ever used. It actually just *barely* skims the surface, creating a negative surface pressure, drawing surface oils and plants to it but it's such a small amount of water that gets through that it *doesn't* kill your plants, if that is your preference!Noise level: I cannot hear the pump at all, the trickle from the two provided outlets is really nice sounding.Suction and gph: It's enough that it'll filter ample amounts of aquarium water without being so much that it'll create undo stress on your animals by moving too much water.Pump clamps tightly to the reservoir, reducing worry that it'll detach or leak.Cons:Doesn't specify what aquarium it is for. I picked it up for my 75 gallon standard size Aqueon aquarium, and while it works, the pipes and supports are stressed. I won't leave it where it is or use it longterm, and this is the biggest drawback and really a deal breaker. If I had a rimless tank or wanted to use it on my 37 or 10 gallon aquariums, it would be great. You have to prime the pump by prefilling the reservoir. This isn't a big deal for me.The cord is way, way too short. Aquariums are sometimes placed in positions where you don't want an outlet right next to it to avoid electrical shock or fire dangers, this cord is only about 4 or 5 feet. Should be twice as long.Overall: 4/5 stars, but for my particular setup and needs it receives a low 1 1/2 stars, simply because using it long term I risk big problems with leaking and damage to my fishroom area (my office)

Using as a supplemental filter for my 55 gal
First off, I’ve never used any type of canister-like filter before. With that being said, my biggest issue with this product is its instructions. I’m usually pretty good at building/putting things together and I found the instructions to be a bit confusing and vague. Other than that, the product seems to be working as designed. I attached the filter to my 55 gallon tank before going on a two week vacation and returned to a fairly clean tank. Note this is not my primary filter. My main goal was to use this as a surface skimmer and supplement my primary filter. Upon returning from my vacation, I noticed the skimmer attachment and was below the top of the water level and a few of the holes that release the water were clogged with algae and plant build up, but I feel that is normal considering I left the tank for 2 weeks with no maintenance. I was using a self feeder and I have a pretty large goldfish in my tank. goldfish are known to be messy and I’ve returned to a tank after a trip just filled with algae overgrowth from the leftover food that a self feeder will leave in a tank. This trip, algae growth was minimal so I’d like to believe that this secondary filter worked as designed! Price point seems good to me as well. I may purchase another one for my smaller nano tank.

It is what it says it is...supplemental filtration!
It's simple supplemental filtration. I like the rain attachment, since I already have a power head to move water around. I'm using on 40 gallon tank with goldfish and everyone knows how dirty they can be, so the more filtration the better. Bit of puzzle to assemble, the provided instructions are a little lacking.

It's fine
It is fine. Just know that there is a little plastic/rubber piece on the inside that you will need to remove so it will actually work. This took me a few minutes to figure out. Works well overall though.

Not bad
The media could not be loaded. This would work for a small tank. I would like it better if it had more suction power. It’s very quiet, hardly noticeable. It’s also easy to clean. It’s a good skimmer cleaner. Would recommend this as a secondary filter.

It's fair
It works well in the small tanks. It does its job and everything was pretty easy to assemble. I think that the skimmer works well because it can adjust itself with the water level. It's an inexpensive filter that should last till you upgrade to a bigger tank.
