I wanted to use and take to open mics. I like the portability. It sounds great too.

I want to preface this review by saying I am absolutely not a percussionist or a Cajon player, but I understand the basics. I have used a full size Cajon, and this does sound a little bit different. It is not as full and the base is not as deep. However, if you’re looking to take it with you wherever, it’s decent sounding, and very versatile. Definitely a lot easier than trying to tote around a full size. It took me a few minutes to figure out where all the sounds were, but it’s easy to use and sounds pretty cool. I got this one for my child who loves to drum on everything - why not put that to good use? I will definitely play around with it too, but I think it is a fantastic beginner instrument at this price point to introduce someone to the world of percussion.

I am kind of on the fence about this drum. I like the fact that it's portable and it has a cool strap for your shoulder. But the sound isn't the best. It doesn't have that much of a snare sound like I expected this to have since it's supposed to mimic a Cajon. Nice wood material and it is nicely crafted. Just didn't get the sound I expected out of it.

This cajon seems well-built and solid. The strap buttons feel solid, and the snare tension bolts feel like they'll last. It's a great size, and actually sounds much better than I expected it to, especially in the hands of someone who knows how to play it!If you're a beginner looking to get started, there are full-size options at similar price points. I'd recommend getting a bigger one to learn on, as it'll teach you proper technique and provide a better sound. But if you're an experienced player, or just looking for something to bring with you to the campfire, this is a fantastic option!
