Added these to our driveway gate and now we can latch it down and keep it in place. Easy instalation.

The product listing says for metal gates but my fence is wood supported by steel tubing. The mounting brackets that are included are 90 degree brackets that make it a bit difficult to mount directly to tube metal. I made it work but would have e preferred to see a flat bracket or maybe even a couple of included bracket options for various conditions. The rod is solid metal and heavy duty. The notches are a bit of a pain since they are spaced so close together but 180 degrees apart. It'll take some time to get used to the proper pull technique. Not a bad choice if you need a fence gate rod.

We got this latch for the door to our outdoor shed, and it works perfectly. It's simple to open and close with only one hand when I'm carrying things. I like the way I can easily pull it up to lock it open without a hassle. So, its locking ability is great. But our dirt is very hard when it's dry, so I can't easily just push it into the ground to hold the door open, and even when I do, our wind is so strong here that it can eventually pull out of the ground. We created a strong hole in the ground for its open position and fortified it with a hard plastic edge to hold the bottom of the rod and all is well.

This bolt is much beefier than I expected, and the bolt and brackets are well built. I have no doubts that this bolt would hold a fairly heavy gate shut and would take quite a bit of rough handling and abuse. Surprisingly, the self-tapping hex-head mounting screws that are included are also adequate to lock the brackets tightly in place. The black finish appears thick, and does not appear that it would scratch off easily. I noted no scratches or other damage to the finish that arose during installation.I got this item to use in a bit of an unconventional manner. I have a wall with a sliding door inside of my chicken coop that separates the actual coop from a small staging/ storage area. The sliding door is a barn door type, and both the wall and door are basically a frame with wire mesh attached. I needed a way to secure the barn door so that I could keep the outside door open, unattended and be sure that the barn door would not be inadvertently opened and the chickens allowed to get loose. I was able to attach the cane bolt to the door and I made a wood block to attach to the floor that the bolt would fit into when locked. This configuration made the barn door solid and it would not move once the bolt was inserted into the hole.Final analysis, this is a heavy-duty bolt that I would recommend without hesitation.

I ordered these to hold open the doors on our large shed, and they work great. We get strong winds in this area and the rods have held up well. They are a very sturdy metal and real easy to install. They even enhanced the look of the doors. I have no doubt they will last a very long time.
