Dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae (5 lbs) - More Calcium Than Mealworms - Treats for Chickens, Wild Birds, & Reptiles

I feed these to muscovy ducks. They love when these are thrown in the water. The soldier fly makes a bigger meatier looking larva than mealworms and these seem to be cheaper at the moment also. This product is 2$ more than the chinese brands, but I think that's worth it as there often seem to be less regulation over there, esp with pet food products. I feel these are almost as much a supplement as a treat, bc of the good protein and calcium content. The smell is not appealing to my human nose but the bag reseals so its not a problem to keep inside.

Note: It makes me laugh that there is a rating for flavor. Umm...I'm certainly not going to taste them! The chickens think they are yummy, that's good enough for me!This bag is very large, 5 pounds. It's resealable, which is always helpful. Some of the BSF are broken up, which is to be expected in dried insects of any kind.These are non-GMO, and have no preservatives or fillers, so I don't have to worry about my chickens ingesting something bad, that would show up in eggs that I eat.Very happy with these!!

Not bad but not great... Decent value. The larvae are smaller in size (thinner/shorter) and a lot of them are broken up inside the bag so a small amount of the weight is powder. These will do, my birds eat them but value wise that are fair.

The larvae arrived crisp and fresh (I feel so odd writing that). My flock, which includes guineas, chickens, and quails, seems to love these. The larvae make a nice treat and help me calm/tame the flightier game birds, which is always a plus. The bag is large enough to last a long time, so the easy to use resealable top is greatly appreciated.Note: pictured is Tim my bantam rooster and self-proclaimed flock protector.

This is a very large bag of treats for my chickens. I sprinkle them into the chicken house when I need to lure them in for the evening. The larvae smell natural, are oily and a larger size.  They are inhaled quickly by the chickens and guineas and are definitely flavor approved by them. I am pleased with the quality and bulk bag they come in.  I would recommend and buy these again.

This is a great amount of soldier fly larvae for the price. The chickens love them and will be a staple. What I do notice is they have either been over dried in some cases or mixed with poor quality bugs. About 30% of them are hallow and catch in the breeze. Some exoskeleton maybe too? Regardless it is still a good deal
