Whole Brain Teaching for Challenging Kids: 2nd Edition: (and the rest of your class, too!)

I've gradually included WBT strategies in my third-grade classroom for several years. Each year gets better and better. My relationships with students deepen with each new class I teach, thanks to Chris Biffle and the WBT team. (Many of whom were awarded Teacher of the Year in their schools.) This new 2nd edition is even better than the first. There are significant improvements to help us increase student engagement, critical thinking, and relationships. The model is to create a LIVING video game in our classrooms using brain-friendly games and motivational strategies, giving us dopamine dollops! My favorite tool is using direct instruction in a new way with the Magic Circle. My students are staying engaged and learning more! This edition has huge upgrades and helpful ideas. It is easier to use because of the six learning modules. It's easy to find what you're looking for. I've read my edition cover to cover. My incoming third graders need not wear socks this year because WBT will blow them off!

A few years ago I stumbled across the first edition of this book and read it within a day. I was hooked! After that day I went to the website and also joined the whole brain teaching Facebook groups to learn everything I could before school started that August. I've been using many of the whole brain teaching strategies since then but due to illness slacked off a little on commenting and posting in the Facebook groups but I still use it in my classroom since the students can help lead the classroom and make it easiest for me on days when I am not feeling my best. When I saw that there was going to be a second edition come out I knew I had to get it and ordered right away. This book like the first was so easy to read and full of helpful heads for the classroom. I also finished it in a day but highlighted much more that I want to remember to include this coming school year. I'm already passing my book on to some teachers in my school to read so that they too can get hooked on whole brain teaching!

It will transform your classroom management, how deeply connected you are as a class, and teach you FUN ways to practice academics. It has transformed my teaching and I'm going on year 28 and feel I can do many more because of these methods. My favorite thing about the program is the continuous language development children get through continuous talk and conversation amongst themselves.

I was introduced to WBT 2 years ago and was completely blown away with how easy it was to implement the techniques into my classroom. The difference between my classroom before and after WBT has been Absolutely life-changing. I was so excited when this book was released. The layout is easy to understand and mighty to impact. The updated information is perfect for students in our classroom now (as opposed to the original book, which was written 10 years ago). This book has left me feeling energized and renewed. I feel like my spirit has been lifted and I'm ready for Aug to be here! I can't wait to see a whole new group of Alpha-Hawks improve and grow. I have recommended this book to everyone educator I know! If you're taking the time to read this review, do yourself a favor... Get the book!!!! The only regret you'll have is not getting it sooner!

Whole Brain teaching should be mandatory reading for all, from aspiring to veteran teachers. As a teacher for 14 years, this book has provided numerous eye-opening moments and a wealth of practical tools to enhance my teaching practices. I particularly appreciate the book's well-structured modules, diverse classroom game ideas, and strategies for shifting our mindset as educators toward our "beloved rascals." Since discovering the strategies outlined in this book, I have completely transformed my philosophy of classroom management. After a year of challenging behaviors, "rascals," and lack of engagement, teaching can be a fun and rewarding experience again. Usually, teaching rules and procedures are tedious, and students' participation during lessons is limited to the same few students. However, by implementing thoroughly engaging and brain-based teaching methods created by Whole Brain Teaching, I am confident that the "student-powered" environment will increase student learning. This book has me excited to begin another year in the classroom. I was tired of buying junk for my classroom treasure box, which didn't help my students improve their behavior. Whole Brain Teaching is worth the read, and the very best part is that ALL of the resources on TPT are FREE! I can't wait to implement the strategies in the book. I am most excited about using "Teach...OK!" so students can activate all the parts of their brains while learning. This book has answers that I have long been searching for as a teacher. It's a tough learning curve as I change my long-ingrained ways but totally worth it! The very best part is that you only pay for this book (or any of the books they put out). ALL of their other resources and training are FREE! I took the Bronze Level Book study this summer FOR FREE! I am printing out all of the posters etc FOR FREE! Most teacher training books are at least $50 and most teacher training in over $400. WBT is changing everything I do in the classroom for the better! You have to be willing to change and do the work that change requires. There are also support groups on Facebook. People in those groups often ask how they can implement without buying the book. My answer...invest in the book! Worth it!

This book is amazing, in fact the whole WholeBrain teaching Philosophy is fantastic. As an educator I was looking for something that will improve my teaching and this is it. Full of wonderful strategies that are easy and FUN to implement. I First came across WBT 5 years ago on youtube and immediately started using these strategies. This book is the bible if you will. Turn your classroom into a game now.

The book is easy to read and has lots of graphics. Also there are tons of free resources that go along with it to get it started in any classroom.

Love the books WBT put out as they teach us so many ways to make connections with kids, have fun in our classrooms, built positive role models, and guide our beloved rascals. This is a must own for all teachers!!!
