The PoolMate2 features all the patented lap-counting technology of our existing models with the addition of an open water mode to track swims in lakes, the sea or rivers. He now has a Garmin Swim 2, whilst considerably more expensive, it works, is way more robust and actually counts swim lengths. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Basic but effective *by R***R on 13 December 2020* This a great item, when you get to grips with it. A bit temperamental at first, but its more to do with getting to know which buttons to press and how hard. However, having used it for a few occasions now, I'm getting more confident with it and the data you can pull off it... albeit that you read and write it all down! With current limitations on session time, I've been able to have a play with the different settings and generally it copes with changes in strokes and training reps/laps. The only real bug=bear is the display when swimming, you just cannot read anything whilst underwater., you can only stop to read laps and time. However so long as you are happy with this then it is a capable tool. One thing which is a bit irksome was the battery level when the watch arrived. It is graduated from 1-6, and it came at only level 4 so I expect sometime in the next few months I will be sending it to Swimovate for a battery replacement which means the advertised run time is NOT accurate.
