As good as the calamine your mother used - but with none of the mess
Remember when you were a kid and your grandmother would smother you in that cold, drippy pink stuff that would dry on your skin, but then your mother would absolutely forbid you from getting on your bedsheets? That terrible dilemma of who to annoy more has been somewhat resolved. Aaah, modernity! I'm sure Witch Hazel is for the jump next! For the first time in my life, I got a deep, serious sunburn while watching my son swim on a day out with friends. It took a full 2 days for extent of my burn to make itself apparent, by which point it was Saturday morning and I was unable to wear clothes anymore. Second degree sunburn is no laughing matter (though I feel like a muppet for not protecting against the sun in the first place) and it was immediately obvious that I'd need something fairly heavy-duty to soothe and start repairing my skin - thus my mind flashed back to the milder sunburns of childhood and that bottle of calamine lotion my grandmother kept next to a jar of cotton wool balls. This cream is, honestly, brilliant. I shall now be keeping a stock of it in the house at all times. It's aqueous cream (non-allergenic, super-clean, absolutely pure and can be used as soap on very tender skin) with calamine (zinc and some other bits) mixed in,so it doesn't spill everywhere and yet contains the same soothing, heat-removing properties of that childhood tincture.I ordered my lotion at 8am that Saturday on the "Same Day Delivery" scheme and it had been delivered by 4pm. It was on my skin by 4:15.It's effective for a good long while, and was robust and thick enough to stay in place even with a damp flannel laid over the top. And, though I slathered it all over my shoulder and back (with help) for three days, there's still 2 untouched tubes and at least half of the first tube remaining, so this batch will last you a good long while. In terms of mess and spillage, compared to the calamine of my childhood, this doesn't compare. But even on that first night when I was absolutely covered in the stuff, my bedding didn't suffer too badly. And because the base is aqueous cream, it was right out in the machine the next day.All in all, this cream is brilliant. I've not got a tube in the kitchen, one in the bathroom cupboard and one in the day out bag, in the same pouch as the newly-purchased sun protection lotion.

Magic stuff!
There is no way I will ever get through 3 tubes of this cream because it only took 3 applications to heal a sore patch on my skin. Brilliant, soothing and well, effective!

Chickpox Relief !
Much easier and more controlled than calamine lotion - especially on our baby !Three packs is a lot - we have one unopened for medicine cabinet. Can be used in future for sun burn or stings.

Great for eczema and other causes of skin itching and irritation
I always like to have some of this calamine cream in stock. It's useful for any skin itching condition, but my wife and I mostly use it as we both suffer from eczema, This cream brings welcome relief to the itching caused by eczema outbreaks, and because it's a cream and not a lotion it's less messy and stays where it's been applied until it's fully absorbed into the skin. We both find it easy to apply and have also used it to provide relief from insect bites and sunburn on occasion. A highly recommended product for your first aid kit, bathroom cupboard or suitcase, and the fact that you get three packs for a good price is a great selling point.

Prickly heat rash
On a holiday I got a full body of prickly heat each. A random woman who happened to be a pharmacist gave me a tube of this and it’s changed my life, I used it and without 24 hours my rash went and I continued to enjoy my holiday. I have used this ever since and cannot recommend enough for people who suffer with prickly heat.

Great for pregnant belly!
This was recommended by a friend of mine who has suffered from hives in the past, for my toddler daughter who suffered from dry itchy skin one winter. She relaxed almost instantly when applied. We had a tube left over, so now being 7 months pregnant I use it on my itchy stretched belly, it's so soothing! I apply liberally, doesn't take long to absorb. Seems to be a good all rounder for all sorts of itchy skin complaints, will definitely make sure I always have a tube in the cupboard.
