Very nice in appearance, quality, and performance.
It is hard to say what I liked best about this knife set. All my impressions were positive. I can't think of anything negative other than that quality knifes need to be hand washed to preserve the wood and better protect the knife blade from damage. This would be true for any non-disposable quality knife.1. The knives are boxed with nice packaging that can easily be used for presenting a gift.2. There are two knives in this set. One paring knife and a Santoku knife which is great for cutting an assortment of vegetables and small cuts of meat.3. The side of the knives have indentations that are not only decorative but functional as they help prevent slick foods apples and potatoes from to the knife blade.4. The ebony wood handle feels comfortable to hold and is of sufficient weight. The bolster which is between the blade and handle has a resting area for your thumb which also helps control the knife and give it stability when cutting.5. The end of the handle has a loop which could be used to attach the knife to a hook or other object. For me this is useful as I have an RV and can secure the knife where it won't jingle in a drawer where it could get knicks from vehicle movement. The loop on the handle is also a solution to an accessibility problem in an RV as I can now mount the knife to the inside of a cabinet door for convenience.6. The knife is VERY sharp with a 15-degree angle. This also means you need to take care of the knife. Use a honing tool, a long circular metal bar to keep the blade aligned so it stays sharp. Do that after each use and you'll probably rarely if ever need to sharpen it. Sharpening actually removes metal where honing does not. It is much better to realign the metal on a knife with a honing rod after each use. You may want to keep this nice knife out of the dishwasher which can jiggle and put slight nicks into an otherwise sharp blade. Another reason you don't want to put it in a dishwasher is that the handle is a nice-looking ebony wood, and you don't want water to weather-beat away the knife's luxurious appearance.I'd suggest that you don't use these knifes for cutting through bone or hard objects. For that you want a different kind of knife like a meat cleaver or heavy chef's knife. They usually have a greater angle and are not as sharp but are better suited chopping type functions.7. I often cook and make knife purchases. This is the first time that I've seen knifes delivered with a knife protector. The black plastic shown in the picture is intended to protect the knife when put into a drawer. It also protects you from cutting yourself when reaching into a drawer for a knife.8. I tested and used the knifes the day after receiving them. They cut though the potatoes and onions without sticking to the blade. The knife was sharp enough to prevent the onion from releasing syn propanethial-s-oxide chemicals that can affect the eyes to tear.9. I felt that this set of knives seemed to be an excellent value and were well designed and made. It is a quality knife at a reasonable price.I'd be open to a complete set from this company.

Great Starters
Whilst not the best, it's not at all bad. When knife makers first started employing 5Cr15MoV stainless steel instead of the far more expensive and highly renowned German X50CrMoV15, those goods were frequently viewed by many chefs and professionals as being low-quality knockoffs. The majority of culinary professionals have learned to appreciate their value as their use has increased in the kitchen throughout time. Even though these knives are not as good as the greatest professional knives available, they cost much less to make. In essence, you can acquire a knife that is around 75% as good as a high-end professional knife for only 15% of the cost. These knives won't maintain their razor edge for as long, but they are still simple to sharpen, particularly with routine care. They have strong impact resistance as well as resistance to corrosion and abrasion. As a result, these knives make a good backup option or for use in a home kitchen or business. Excellent to send along with your children when they go on their own. The chef's knife was quite sharp when these blades first came, but the paring knife was not. On the other hand, 10 minutes with a 1000-grit stone corrected it. They'll be quite useful in our kitchen.

Wonderful knives. Solid, heavy, well made. Excellent.
With all the cooking I do daily, my 'go to' knife shapes for everyday use are 1) a Santoku & 2) a paring knife. I've never found anything that works better so was interested in seeing what this set was like to add it to what I already have/use. They come nicely packed in a slender black box that includes a black knife sheath for each blade. A very nice touch the seller has added is a clear plastic blade cover with a padded tip area shipped already on the paring knife. You could use either this padded sheath or the black one for that knife. I plan to protect the all important cutting tip of the paring knife by using the clear plastic sheath while in my knife drawer. The box is sturdy & would be excellent for gifting this set.Appearance: The top 1/3rd of each blade has miscellaneous shaped indentations & that area also has a black shaded effect. The indentations are common in these types of knives because they help release sliced items from the blades. Each blade is one single piece of metal that fully extends through the center of the ebony handle pieces & ends with a small triangle that could be used to hang the knife. The ebony handles are held in place by smooth, pewter looking fasteners. The handles are 100% smooth with well finished angles at the end where the triangle is located. Very well finished. Both blades arrived with a slight amount of oil on them which is good.If I had to give a name to the overall appearance of this set, I'd call them artisan. They are lovely & I like the look much better. Careful attention has been given to the shapes because when in my hand, my thumb & right finger fit perfectly into the shaped section between the top of the handle & the base of the blade. Very, very comfortable to hold. These are definitely meant for everyday kitchen use for vegetables, fruits, etc. The carbon blade is sharpened on both sides. I have a very fine Japanese made vegetable knife with just one side sharpened for accurate cutting but I think I'll be using these more on a daily basis.Feel: The ergonometric design definitely makes these comfortable & easy for me to hold & my hands are small, not to mention the arthritis in my fingers. A winner for everyday use for me. They are solidly built and heavy in my hand. No fear of slipping around as with lighter knives. I'll keep a bit of oil on these blades as part of my knife maintenance & I expect years of good use from these solidly made pieces.I'm very pleased with these and would recommend them to anyone who cares for their kitchen equipment well because they will feel the difference.
