All good things must come to an end
And it appears that the release of anything beyond Volume XXXIX (39 for the roman numerally challenged) won't happen. So sad. But Shout made the last volume another good one - with 3 terrible movies - including the last episode of MST3K and the Satellite Dishes.I don't need to dwell on how bad the movies are - that goes without saying - it is just a question of degrees. The funniest - unintentional of course - is Girls Town. Mel Torme as a bad ass? Riggghhhttt. Not hardly. Paul Anka? Mamie Van Doren? What a train wreck. Bringing up the rear (in more ways than one) is The Amazing Transparent Man. Too bad that they couldn't make the entire movie disappear. And in the middle is Diabolik. This just goes to prove that not all foreign films have deeper meaning than American films - they can be just as, if not more, vacuous.Satellite Dishes is a series of host segments. Some good stuff. The bonus features are, as usual, very good.As sad as it is to end, this was as good a send off as one could expect.

Volume 39: The Last MST3K Box Set
I've been a fan of MST3K since the Comedy Central days, and while I like this set, it's not really a favorite. It seems that Shout can't get the licenses for the remaining episodes, so I presume this is the last set in the series. Volume 39 features three movies, and the host segments of the episodes they couldn't license in a feature called "Satellite Dishes". The three films range from adequate to great. I have to say that I'm not a big fan of the juvenile delinquent genre, so "Girls Town" is a bit trying to get through. "The Amazing Transparent Man" is cheesy sci-fi, and is much more enjoyable, but the standout here is the final MST3K episode (in the original run), "Diabolik". It's a European man of mystery film set in the swinging sixties and feature John Phillip Law as Diabolik (though I still prefer him in the classic MST3K episode, "Space Mutiny"). I once saw Mike Nelson speak, and he said "Diabolik" was one of his personal favorites from the series. That surprised me as I find it amusing, but not one of the true classics. It did, however, wind the series down, and is worth a look.

The end
This is an important MST collection to pick up, as it has the last MST. Now, considering how bad that movie is, this may be fore the best. Diabolik is actually too bad to be a MST.Also, you can get the host segments for the episodes that cant be released, so that is great.Transparent man isn't too bad actually...same with Girl's town, but Paul Anka and Mel Torme is rough.

I bought this specifically for Diabolik, because I've been waiting for YEARS for that movie to be released with the mst3k riffing. The other two movies are awesome, the Satellite Dishes are just the in-between the movie bits.

The latest and last release of the MST3k Series
Sorry to see that this is the last of the compilations to be issued. My wife and I have enjoyed MST3K for many years and have collected all the sets plus individual movies from this series.

The End Of The Line For MST3K Sets?
3 Mike Nelson Eps (sorry, Joel fans), my most favorite host, what's not to love? Well, because this may be the last DVD set of MST3K ever released, it's very bittersweet.

surely one of the best riffed movies in the history of riffing
It appears that this will be the last box set - with only 11 episodes remaining from the classic series that have never been collected. Besides the last episode where the gang finally escapes and returns to earth (DANGER, DIABOLIK!) it features GIRLS TOWN, surely one of the best riffed movies in the history of riffing. Must have.
