they were too small already, so order a size up

I believe it is 14-16 for boys, My grandson is just turned 13 in a few days. The size I ordered for him fit him just fine, he is a tad on the chunky side. Plus they have adjusting tabs on the inside waist to give you a more customized fit. For the price, these shorts are an excellent buy. Sturdy, fit nice, look nice - dressy or just play. Hope this helps.

That would depend on how tall the child is. They cut off just below the knee and looked great.
