This is medicinal tea used to treat high blood pressure and inflammation, this it creates a cooling effect on the body. Very mild flavor. It works so well I get cold when I drink it. Looking forward to drinking this during a hot summer day.Each flower comes in an individual plastic container, which helps keep the flowers intact. I wasn’t too pleased at first but as it turns out they make wonderful cat toys. Our cat is so excited to get one and chases it all over the house.

If brewed correctly it should provide a mellow sweet taste with a rich aroma and only the slightest of yellowish color. But to bring the flower back to a beautiful bloom … you have to heat it correctly. Too low of a temperature and the flower will turn a blackish orange color. If it is not completed soaked or you have water quality issues … it may turn green in color. While neither of these are as appealing a s a beautiful yellow bloom … they can be consumed. They are just not as aesthetically pleasing.I know absolutely nothing about this type of tea except what I have read. So this is my first experience drinking the flavors of this flower. The flavor is nice and not overpowering but still complex. It has an earthy aroma and taste. Very subtle but refreshing. These chrysanthemum blossoms are individually packaged in hard plastic cases, which keeps them from crumbling during packaging and shipping. Would love to see a more earth friendly packaging option for them. I found the cases themselves a little difficult to open - the domed side will come off the base but it takes some effort. They're not threaded, it's a simple pop off lid that is very secure. The cases themselves might be reusable if you're creative.The flowers themselves are a lovely bright yellow and make a gorgeous, warm, earthy herbal tea that is lemon-yellow in color. I placed just one into a large clear mug and after sipping 2/3 of the tea I refilled and had an equally pleasant second cup. Once rehydrated you might think it was a fresh chrysanthemum, not a previously dried one! It will float near the surface of the tea and it's rather mesmerizing to watch as it shifts and spins when you drink. A fully rehydrated blossom occupies roughly an inch of height in water.Wonderful tea!

Have been drinking Chrysanthemum teas for years now, however, I've always been accustomed to the dried up smaller flower varieties and not this larger variety that looks almost freshly picked while seeping. That said, the taste of this is superior to the smaller types and able to seep at least twice for full flavor extraction in a cup. Aside from the taste, the serving of this will be a great attention grabber as everyone will be impressed by the pretty flower and the taste. I don't add any sweeteners to mine, but the wifey likes to add some honey to sweeten it up a little.The only con I would have to say is the packaging that the Chrysanthemum comes in which is a hard plastic case that would need to be recycled and thus not really environmentally friendly. Not sure why another packaging material couldn't have been used but I guess that was by design in order to protect the flower from being crushed during normal handling and transport.

I think this is a super tea to serve adventurous guests. I'm guessing most people have not tried Chrysanthemum tea, I certainly never have. Till now. It's rather impressive how the dried flower head comes to life when steeped in boiling water. The intensity of taste is impressive as well. To me, it tastes a lot like other teas I've had, but with a bit of heat to it. There is no bitter aftertaste. Each dried flower is securely enclosed in a clear hard plastic case. You remove the flower, drop it into your cup and pour boiling water over it. Steep for 1-2 minutes and consume. As your cup empties you can refill with more boiling water and allow it to steep a bit more. The flower head comes to life and will look freshly picked. The tea is a pretty yellow color. This tea is a fun way for tea lovers to experience something a little different.About that plastic case. I plan to reuse mine. They're perfect for beads and other jewelry findings, small jewelry, a squirt of lotion, vitamins/medicine etc. So don't toss them prematurely, you'll probably find a use for them.
