Amazing for the price. Most people won't need to spend more.
Device is well made and just works, out of the box (need your own 2xAAA batteries). It comes with calibration slides which are layers of clear acrylic, each numbered from 2mm, 1mm, 0.5mm, .25mm. 0.1mm and .05mm. You can layer them up to make many different thicknesses to test against the included piece of thin steel. There is a way to calibrate it if it were off, but wasn't off by enough for me to care, so I didn't bother. It registered a .027, when I was testing with actual .025, for example. I could have calibrated this out, but didn't bother. Not perfect, but way more than perfect enough to test car paint thickness when looking for previous undocumented body work. Why spend more?

Is not consistent
I measured each panel of my car at least 5 times per panel and got 5 completely different readings. There is no way to get an accurate measurement. In addition, the instructions are typical Chinese product instructions. Useless!. I had to go on YouTube to learn how to calibrate it. I did it perfectly, 3 times, but still got different readings per panel.

great price good product
didn't want to spend too much on a new paint thickness gauge as I lost a more expensive onethis works great and accurately as far as I can tellthis is a great tool to have to determine if a car has been repainted or use it to check how much clearcoat is on a vehicle before doing paint correction
