The Handmaiden

What a helter-skelter ride this film gives you as the twists and turns take you deeper and darker. Masterfully crafted storytelling rewards some early patience from the viewer and once the fuckery begins the time passes quickly, punctuated by laughs and gasps. Always beautiful to watch and often jaw-dropping at what you are seeing, this is an easy recommendation. @micbinbag

An absolutely stunning piece of cinema! I enjoyed watching it on the big screen, but only saw the theatrical release. Was great seeing the directors cut as well! It's a film I seem to come back to again and again. Great twisting story, wonderful acting and beautiful cinamatorgraphy.

Masterpiece on region B

Gorgeous film! A beautiful box too, this film is simply stunning. Based off the incredible Sarah Waters novel Fingersmith, this film always delights with sumptuous colours, and fantastic performances

A story told from three perspectives, each one revealing more and changing the context, often drastically. Fascinating & engaging, wonderfully acted and beautifully filmed - the cinematography is gorgeous. Gets quite dark at times but in tone & inference rather than gore & guts.

A great film for only a tenner. This version includes the Directors cut as well as the Theatre release (which you could argue is the cut version) and both of which are excellent. The only downside to this set is that the Blu-ray menu is horrendous and has no text, just little icons that you need to press in order to see what they do. The special features are also minimal but other than that 5/5.

Extended version - reviewed: Amazing cerebral and erotic film. Give it time and patience, and you will be richly rewarded...! An instant classic. Articial Eye, Special Edition Blu-ray. This edition is, as far as I know, the only english friendly BR out there with the "Extended Version" included, and is highly recommended.

Based on a Victorian set novel Fingersmith (televised by the BBC) this moves the story to Japanese occupied Korea in the early part of the twentieth century. It has devious conmen and women, hot steamy lesbian coupling, a wicked uncle, rapidly changing loyalties from the main characters as they jockey for supremacy and beautiful double crosses and comeuppances for some truly wicked people. Plus as a blu-ray it looks superbly beautiful in its depiction of the time and the country.

Good quality; two disks (with the Director Cut Version); English sub-title. The plots are twisted and turned, I was surprised.

Ich finde den Film großartig, will aber nicht Spoilern. Die Geschichte ist Klasse. Was bei dieser Edition zu beachten ist, zumindest ist es bei mir so. Ich weiß nicht ob alle Sonderinhalte auf einer Bluray sind und man 2 bekommt, da sie für verschiedene Regionen ausgelegt ist. Ich kann den Film anschauen. die andere Blu Ray hat jedoch eine andere Regionszone. Wenn auf beiden das selbe ist, ist es egal, nur ein bisschen verwirrend. Und Diese Variante hat keine Deutsche Synchronfassung. Englische und weitere Untertitel, von Sprachen die ich aber nicht beherrsche als Untertitel und als Sprache Koreanisch und Japanisch. Da ich durch das Schauen von vielen Animes gewohnt bin untertitel zu lesen und trotzdem den Fokus auf den Film zu haben, macht mir das nicht so viel aus.
