Got the penguin for my mother-in-law & she LOVED it!!! Even cuter than the pictures!!!!!

This is the whale and not the seal. Not a big deal to me, but apparently it is to a four year old. If you are also in the market for a seal, look elsewhere.

So I actually pried the links open with pliers to rearrange the components and found that the the rings are very durable. I even pried them open and closed several times without them feeling like they were losing structural integrity. The original arrangement is exactly as shown in the product images, I only rearranged the items to bring the bottle critter closer to the clasp and lower the bell for an increase in jingly noises so when I go for a walk I don't catch any wildlife by surprise. I did unfortunately drop the cute little heart but when I find it I know I can pry open the rings and put it back on without an issue.
