Great Replacement for 5.5w Diode Laser
I purchased this laser to replace a 5.5w diode laser for my CNC machine. Once I figured out the proper connection to my CNC controller (with help from LUNYEE customer service), the laser has worked great for over four months.Recently, however, I was cleaning the collimator lens and noticed it had cracked. I contacted LUNYEE customer service about purchasing a replacement, and they kindly offered to send me a replacement lens at no charge. Great customer service!

Potential safety issue: BLUE "PWM" LED cannot be seen when wearing red safety glasses
In total, so far so good. But, when safely playing, I noticed what I consider a significant safety issue. It's a BLUE laser. We all know this. They shields they ship are RED to block the blue, right?Which means if you're smart and wearing RED protective wrap-around glasses (since even a "glint" of a class IV laser can cause permanent vision loss.), you will be like anti-superman and you won't see that blue laser light. Okay, but what about if you're wanting to verify that it's not firing? You'd look for some electronic indicator of it being on, without it being that brief moment when you take the glasses off and then lose your vision because no, the laser was indeed on.But, guess what? The only indicator on the sold hardware is the PWM LED on the interface board. And what's the ONE color LED you cannot see when you're wearing those red glasses??? You guessed it, BLUE....and I bet you can't guess what color they made the only LED that says if the laser is firing.... Okay, maybe you can....yes, they made it blue.Seriously....they make nice red ones, and yellow and orange and green and even white. But really....BLUE? For the sake of us all, please change that LED to some color that can be seen when red safety glasses are being worn.Other than that, so far so good. The mounting track looks like it will adapt into my rig quite nicely. Wish it was DIN rail, but that long thumb screw is just a tad too short. Fan is bit louder than I'd like, but it'll do.All in all, solid. Will update as the integration and use continues.

Poorly Made with Cheap Materials
On a positive note, I appreciate the design of the Z-axis mount as well as the removable air-assist nozzle and magnetic laser shield. And while it worked for 10-minutes, it seemed well powered. HOWEVER...When I bought this 10-watt laser module it was with the intent of upgrading my 5.5-watt laser so I could more easily cut through 9mm hardwood craft plywood. When I set it up and ran a cut test - an all of 10-minute test consisting of 4 individual squares with different speed and power settings each - I got a good, clean cut of the 9mm ply in 3 passes at 520mm/m and 85% power, no burn on either side. I was expecting 2-passes, but 3 was fine. Then I set it up for a small project - little earrings - and that 3 passes turned into 11 to cut through. I thought maybe there was some warp in the wood and tried another piece. That time it was over 20 passes. No way there was that much warpage, so I pulled off the laser and checked the lens for debris. None I could see, but I still used my camera lens cleaning kit on it, wiping it with the soft brush and finger-squeeze air then set it back up. Third project and now it was taking over 30-passes on the same wood. I pulled it off again and looked at the lens under my lighted microscope lamp. There was a round scorch forming in the center of the focus lens; not good. So I pulled the focus lens out to look at the laser lens underneath, and that lens was burned clear though with heat fractures and melt expanding outward from the center. I've never seen this! It doesn't look like shipping damage - that would have been from the start. So either that opaque rectangle you can barely see in the middle of that lens is film that was supposed to be removed at the factory prior to assembly and wasn't and it melted and heated to the point it helped fracture the lens, or the lens material itself is inadequate for the power of the laser. Either way, less than an hours use and no more than 85% power at its strongest and it became useless. I had only had it a couple days, so I immediately returned it as defective. Also, if you look closely at the focus lens (the gold one) you'll see little tiny copper shards in between the 2 lenses. This is bad quality inspection, like someone is literally pulling the metal straight off the machine without buffing and cleaning away the fragments before assembly. Luckily they were off to the side of center, but should one have shifted to center it would have bifurcated the laser stream and at minimum ruined available power, while at worst creating a hazard. So, you can take your chances with this style 10-watt laser - there are several brand names selling the same laser - and you may or may not have the same issue I did. But you've been warned. I'm not willing to play the fool twice with a bad product, so I shelled out the extra $50 more for a brand name 10-watt laser with a 0.06x0.06 focal point, and I'm sure I'll be happy with that since I've been using their lenses for a couple years now with zero issues and rarely a need to clean the lens.Good luck out there, and happy lasering!

EXCELLENT OUT OF THE BKX!
Worked perfectly right out of the box. Packaged extremely well. Included some nice "goodies" such as pet tags, leather and vinyl samples. Nice set of safety glasses. Good strong beam. Highly recommend!

cuts, engraves
This cuts 3mm. but not to used too long. 90 power @20 speed, cut 2 times for a few minutes is fine. Its 4 stars because the assembly instructions were pretty vague, nothing came with the kit. Its on the amazon sight. but doable. So far so good. Im a newbee at the laser machine but have some background in the cnc area. But these machines only work on a laser program that needs to be learned. The Lightburn works pretty good, its a 30 day free trial. then you need to purchase the license. not sure the cost on that yet. I use corel draw for some things yet. Now to find more balsa, or thin basswood.

Cut thru 1/4 plywood with two passes. Wow!
Pretty impressed with how easy the install was on my c-carve. Laser is very strong. Used this to replace my 5.5 watt urtor laser that took 5 passes for 1/8 inch. This one cut thru 1/4 inch in just two passes. Longevity unknown but fan moves a lot of air so hopefully I will get some amount of time with it.

I plugged it in to a 12v power supply fans came on nothing from laser. Got my multimeter out took voltages on the board everything's getting power I think the laser is bad which sucks
