I used this to install and remove a 1.25 inch hand shower backflow preventer as well as the under 1 inch shower hose that attaches to it. This thing has the grip of Hercules and with 1 foot of leverage you can tighten as much as you like. But more than this, I felt that I could still delicately determine how tight I wanted to adjust the fixtures so that there was no fear of over tightening them. And best of all, no marks on my chrome! The construction of the tool is totally solid: solid aluminum bar with steel pin to attach the burly strap. If you're having trouble getting it to grip onto something, adjust your slack probably by adding a little more strap to the circle. You should see all strap on the cylinder you're trying to turn. If there's a strap gap, and your handle is pointing away from the cylinder, add strap to the circle and turn the handle more in the direction you're trying to rotate to engage the added strap. When you have the right amount of strap in your circle the handle will create unbelievable grip after which you can apply further torque to tighten or loosen your object. I can't wait to use this on my first impenetrable jar of pickles previously nearly impossible to open without breaking the glass.

Unless you're working on apartment drainage or street pipes, this is most likely the one you need around the house. Super simple to use and works like magic. Once you get the hang of it, you can get an enormous amount of torque without slipping. Used it many times with polished hardware, and even standard brass nipples to keep the finished work clean and not all scarred up from wrenching. I've even used it with a rubber mallet to loosen tight parts that needed to be reused. It just works.

It's kind of slippery and the strap is only 1.5".
