Q: Is the nonstick coating long lasting? Does it chip or bubble ?

However, said you should use liners in this type of slow cooker is wrong! The whole purpose of this type of slow cooker is to be able to sear, brown and stir-fry all in one pan and then set it to slow cook and let the flavors meld. You CAN'T sear or brown if you're using liners!! I've have 3 Cuisinart slow cookers and love them, but the dam inside pan keeps bubbling and peeling after about 9-18 months. Yes, I use it a lot, but that's what it's for, right? So I'm looking into other companies that make these non-stick, 6-1 or 9-1 type slow cookers.

Q: Does the lid have an open hole in the top? mine came today and it does, it seems like it should be plugged so steam doesn't escape.

Yes, it has a hole in the top. It doesn't let that much steam out, just enough to keep pressure from building up (it isn't a pressure cooker after all). My previous slow cooker had a hole in the lid also. I have not had issues with anything becoming too dry in either that one or this multi-cooker.
