Bold as Brass
I bought a Jiggs PBone for my husband as he was thinking of getting back into playing after a 5 year break. He had sold his brass trombone and didn't want to spend a good thousand pound or two on a new one while he decided whether he really had the time. The price of the PBone is a real bonus, no it's not a brass trombone it never well be but it does play well and the bottom register in particular sounds good if a bit thin the top register is not quite so good but it is more than adequate. Currently the slide is a little sticky but the PBone website does mention this may be an issue in the first instance. From a portability point of view it is amazing and not only good for children but I am sure there will be many at outside gigs and even a few at Jazz festivals. There lightness means even the smallest child can play and also allows those with limited arm strength a brass option.Despite its issues I have to give a give star review. The PBone is the biggest leap forward in affordability of instruments that has been seen in a long time and while it will never take over from beautifully crafted brass instruments it does make the trombone a viable instrument for children, learners, those with disabilities and experienced players who don't have a lot of money to spend.A truly wonderful innovation from Jiggs/Warwick Music.

Remarkably Good Sound!
Absolutely love it. The sound is just remarkably good and it’s so light and great for travel! Great value. Cant say enough good things about it!

Great product but may not last beyond a few months
Good trombone to play. Good dynamic range and very lightweight! (Needless to say, an innovate approach to cost-friendly instruments)Would have given five stars but four days after the thirty day warantee, the plastic on the slide catch broke off. Still usable, but the slide is now prone to damage from falling. All in all, I’ve had a lot of fun with this and have managed to progress fairly well with it.If it takes a while for it to break beyond functional use, I may buy another one, however if your looking for an instrument that’s going to last, it’s probably better to spend a bit more on a metal one

Amazing sound for the price
I got the P-Bone for my teenage daughter who was reluctant to be seen at school with a standard trombone. She loved the funky colours available and went for the black, also loved the fact it is so light it's no trouble to carry it round school all day. She is now playing Grade 4-5 pieces on it easily. It has a much quieter sound than the standard brass trombone (the neighbours love it and the teacher tells her to play louder). The slide was very "raspy" at first although it moves easily but this is improving the more she plays it. Perfect for reluctant teens, fashionistas and those who play a lot outside! We have heard horror stories about P-Bones cracking if dropped, but this one has survived so far!! Does need regular slide maintenance though, just like the brass instruments. Great fun, great tone and got one teenager playing again so can't be bad.

It's a trombone but made of plastic!
I've been playing the trombone for over twenty years, I've recently joined a Gugge band which plays lots of carnivals, festivals and outdoor gigs during which frequent trips to the pub are made. I didn't want to leave my precious bone outside a pub so I bought a pbone, it's great. Plays just like a normal trombone but only weighs 1kgish, my 4 year old son can play it without help holding it. It's really well balanced, and after a while you don't even notice you're playing a plastic trombone. If you gig outdoors, have a young child who wants to play or are a learner yourself I'd advise you get one if these. You'll never join the Vienna phil, but you'll have a great laugh and not have to worry about dents. Possibly most important of all you can enjoy your beer while the rest of the band are looking over their shoulders to check on their instruments.

Amazing
I bought this more out of curiosity than anything really and I am gob smacked. As a trombonist of around 30 years I thought "this is gonna be naff" but I had also seen some very interesting videos on YouTube by Jiggs Whigham and other noteaable musos. How wrong was I? Incredibly light, plays lovely looks ace and costs as much as a decent mouthpiece. The slide was slightly rough to start with, but after a good couple of hours playing (and regular wiping with a cloth), it has played in and is very smooth. Incredible!! My only niggle is the zips on the gig bag feel like they will last about 10 minutes, after so much effort going into the quality of this instrument I would have expected a little more. But for the incredible price, you are getting a wonderful trombone. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Good item, poor service.
This was purchased as a gift and the recipient is very happy with the product itself. It's light, portable and durable and doesn't sound bad either. However it didn't arrive on time or in a very good condition from amazon, forcing me to send it back and hunt it down on the high street.

Very disappointed.
I bought this for my partner who liked the look of it and thought it might be a fun thing to have. It sits in the corner of the room now. The problem is apparently, that the slide just doesn't. The instructions said to keep working it and it'll get slidier, it did to a certain extent but not enough to make it a joy to play. It's sort of okay when it's dry but as soon as moisture gets in the slide slows down and is hard work to drag up and down, makes a horrible scraping noise as well.We both wish we had sent it back for a refund.
