having purchased the Omron Temperature 720 November 2017 it has stopped functioning, even though it now has a new battery. is there a guarantee?

It should come with a 1 year manufacturers warranty at the very least contact Omron on ‭01908 258285‬ for further information. You’ll need you purchase receipt too as it’ll start from date of purchase not first use.

What battery does it need?

It requires 1 CR2032 lithium button battery (3V). But what difference does it make? :)

Does the display light-up? If so how do you activate it?

I do not have an Omron thermometer. I have one with Femometer written on the back. The display lights up when you press the sign BELOW the start button. Sorry.
