Quality item.
This is a great tuning fork, it rings for ages after it's struck: noticeably better than the old one I lost. I like that it's in E, so I can tune both the top and bottom strings on my guitars.

but found that during the year the humidity completely ruined the reeds and rendered them useless. The tuning fork
I travel to India every year and while there spend some time teaching guitar. Last year I bought some pitch pipes which I left them with, but found that during the year the humidity completely ruined the reeds and rendered them useless. The tuning fork, however, is small, easy to pack, and hopefully will be less affected by the humidity. At home in the UK, the fork is actually just as easy to use as a digital tuner, and doesn't need batteries either! All you do is hit it and stand it on the bridge - the guitar acts as a fab soundbox! The E can be used to tune both strings 1 and 6, and to check tuning by fingering E on the other strings too. I intend to get the A tuner too :)Only downside is that it is not good in noisy environments

as a traditional tuning implement it works but there are modern alternatives
Its cheap, portable and doesn't require electricity, apart from that within your brain. I've used one of these for years to tune my classical guitar, without any problems. There are a multitude of other options however, especially in environments where you can't actually hear the fork. For electric guitar i find its much better to have a decent tuning pedal in the chain. If you play classical guitar in public and find yourself needing to tune, it looks pretty good to use the fork whereas you look a bit pedestrian if you have to resort to electronics.

Clear and loud enough tone, sounds correct E = ...
Clear and loud enough tone, sounds correct E = 329.6 Hz (in scale with A = 440 Hz) as confirmed my gStrings app for Android.Bullet proof construction. What can possibly go wrong?
