Inateck SSD Mounting Bracket 2.5 To 3.5, SSD Mounting Kit with SATA Cable and Power Cable, ST1004

Perfect size to replace the old 3.5 HDD and replace with the smaller 2.5 SSD. The SSD screwed securely to the tray which just screwed in nice and tight to the PC case. Even supplied with all the cables in case you were adding an SSD. Does the job really well.

Perfect for installing the extra drive into my PC

I bought this to mount a single 2.5" SSD in a spare 3.5" drive bay on a 6-year old Dell Inspiron 3847 desktop.Mounting the drive within the Inateck bracket was easy, using the supplied screws - a diagram showing the correct orientation would however have been useful.The Dell drive bay has removable metal rails on each side of the drive cage, and my expectation was that I would be able to screw these to either side of the Inateck mounting bracket, and then install the assembly complete with the SSD back in the drive cage. However, the screw holes in the Inateck bracket for this purpose just didn't line up with any on the Dell mounting rails, making it impossible to fit the rails to the bracket and so I couldn't mount the drive as intended. Also, the black screws supplied (which I assume were intended to fix any mounting rails to the bracket) were not the correct size to screw completely into the bracket threaded holes, though they did partially engage.I was able to find a location within what would have been a floppy disk drive bay to mount the Inateck bracket using just two screws - and even then the holes didn't line up correctly with the Dell drive cage, but were about 1mm offset, so I could only insert one screw partially.However, although this was far from ideal, it probably is secure enough for a desktop case. Luckily the kit is flexible enough that I was able to use one of the power extender cables to connect the drive, and one of the supplied SATA cables, and all is working well.It must be difficult to produce a kit that works in all possible circumstances, however, and this kit is pretty comprehensive (even including a handy magnetic screwdriver) and the cost is low, so I think it still deserves four stars overall.

The kit is good value, 2 drives on one bracket is very good. Saves room by only using one 3.5" bay. Only problem is the screws didn't want to enter the holes in the bracket I assume because they tapped the holes and then painted the bracket. I used one of the shiny screws to clear the holes out by just screwing it in each hole before fitting it. Worth trying out the fit of screws before final assembly and installation.

It came with lots of different screws and brackets so I was confident it would work. It did just the job for what I needed.

Good quality, easy assembly. Holds my 43” inch tv quite well

A well presented package with neccesary screws to install two SSD drives BUT:1. Obviously, the drives have to be fixed to the bracket before installation but the screws are so small that they are next to impossible to secure in, especially as, for obvious reasons, they are not magnetic to be held by a screwdriver.Solution: Apply a small bead of BlueTak to the tip of the screwdriver and impale the screw head onto the driver tip. The BlueTak holds the screws sufficiently to easily install the SSD.2. The bracket screws are black, matching the bracket and, again are difficult to install. The bracket screwholes are also not very well reamed. Solution: Use BlueTak (as above) and install screws in holes BEFORE mounting bracket and then remove them. This makes it easier to then install the bracket.3. The discdrive mounting holes on my PC case were fitted with anti-vibration grommets which meant that the supplied black screws were too short to fit the bracket to the case mount. I had to remove the grommets and use some small washers to secure the bracket successfully. Suggestion to manufacturer: supply longer screws for situations like this or suitable washers for over size mount holes.Finally, be careful which way the bracket is mounted. It was only after I'd completed the assembly and installed it that I found there was insufficient clearance for the power and SATA cables, requiring a complete dismantling, re-assembly and installing the other way round to get the correct full clearances!
