Depressing newss for "Vegans."
I thought I was Vegan. Back in the 90's I tried giving up meat and dairy. I ended up with chronic tendonitis. I love animals to the end of my life, but this book pointed out that I had no idea what I was doing, and I suspect most Vegans don't either. Who designed these bodies of ours? What a bad design they are, they need such a huge list of nutrients to be healthy and who has the TIME and the bucks to make sure we're feeding it right? The book made me realize I DON'T get enough protein. I don't truly know what condition my gut is in, the list of foods needed to make sure you cover every nutrient means you pretty much have to spend your entire day eating and shopping and going nuts to make sure you didn't miss something. Share recommends "go see your physician" about a lot of things, ummm, Doctors eat the worst foods, most have NO nutritional training, either. There are no nutrutionists in our town, and most of them are meat eaters anyway. "Dieticians?" Most are meat eaters. Every body is different with different needs and who can you really TRUST to get Vegan help personalized for YOU, based on expensive medical testing us Seniors can't afford and Medicare probably wont support. Last year I went back to being Vegan and now the tendonist is back again. I have to give it up, go back to eating some chicken, eggs, some dairy, and probably just wait for the inevitable heart attack, that both my parents had, with bypass operations. I love all you Vegan people out there, who want to change the world and end the animal holocaust that your average Human has no idea the harm they do to the Earth and the CONSCIOUS precious animals we do the worst horrors to, in our lust for blood. I've had gut issues all my life and I'll tell you up front, Doctors are the absolute worst people to go to for soluions. In fact, as a teen I was put on Tetracyclie for acne for YEARS, that just destroyed my gut. I never had a growth spurt as a teen, and I weighed 95 pounds at 18 years old. That what Doctors did to me. This is a GREAT BOOK, but you would have to study it for a couple years and fumble your way through without professional help. I'm giving up being Vegan as a result of reading this book, I will try to boost my protein input with vegan protein powder and use some of the green powders, but clearly, I need some animal protein, chicken and some dairy, maybe sardines too, because what I was doing doesn't work and feel run down. At age 73, I have few options now, the book scrambled my brains so much I have no idea what to do in the real world now. If you live in a big city like New York, and have a fat bank account, you can probably find all kinds of real Vegan physicians and real nutritionists, but out here in the sticks there's pretty much nothing......

Great amount of info
I've never known where to start with being vegan, my cousin has been vegan for over 20 years and has had some health issues on it. That said who doesn't on a meat-based diet all have their issues. I love the breadth and depth of information in this book, it covers aspects I wouldn't have previously considered. The nutrients we need is complicated but this boo helps take you back to re-thinking food. It goes on to explain about different plant-based diets and has recipes. I wish I had had something like this book before I had had children and I could have naturally substituted from the start. Hey-ho. This is a great comprehensive book for anyone considering or already on a plant-based diet.

Interesting take on peak performance
Not real sure about what to expect, however, I know what I've been doing hasn't been working so I thought it was time to try something new.The book spends time discussing the different components such as gut health, supplementation (why or why not), reasons why you might try giving up or at least reducing animal protein. Also like the recipes in the appendix to give me some options to try this new way of eating.A beginner's guide to the topic.

I’ve been afraid to cut meat from my diet…
Every year, I fast something for 21 days, but I haven’t tried the “Daniel fast” yet, which means basically eating fruits and veggies only. I’ve been worried it will affect my energy and fitness, but this book seems to be just the ticket to calm my mind. In fact, it’s inspiring me to possibly give it a shot.Wood and Summers have created a nearly-comprehensive resource that also includes recipes and resources that will help anyone, not just those searching for plant-based diets.-Michael Lacey, singer/songwriter and 6x Best-Selling Author (also M. Great content
I have been eating plant based on and off for years, this book really makes eating plant based seem easy, it breaks it down to the basics. The book is broken Down into chapters for each different subject. Lots of examples of plant based athletes. The book is easy to read and doesn’t get super complex or overwhelming. Really gets to the point, very easy to read, learn and get going on your new way of life. There are a lot of great easy recipes at the end.

Informative
A well-written, unbiased guide to properly fueling your body on a plant-based diet. The authors know their stuff, often explaining the details both professionally and in layman's terms. I appreciate the authors' diligence in seperating science from anecdotes and personal experience. As for the recipes at the back, I think I will try the spurilina pesto first. My stomach growled just typing that. Great work authors.

A great book for me as Im looking at increasing fitness and turning around my health through diet - GP recommend I go mostly plant based due to some medical concerns so this lets me see how even peak athletes can get what they need for performance from plant based dietLove that is was written by plant based and non plant based co-authors as other plant based books Ive found too 'preachy' so thanks

Just what I needed
Being a vegan for a few years, I wanted to know if I was getting all the nutrients I needed and functioning optimally. This book broke it down for me in detail. I had little prior knowledge of the subject and still I could understand it very well.It is one of the most useful books I have read and would recommend it to everyone interested in veganism or a plant based diet.

Useful information
Many people wonder wether they can consume enough macronutrients, especially protein, if following a vegan diet. In this well researched book, the authors showed how a plant based diet can help an athlete as well as someone who doesn’t exercise. The book is also suitable for someone who’s thinking about vegan diet and wondered how beneficial it could be for their body. There are vegan recipes in the book, which are great addition to the book.

Great book
A very well-researched book about vegan diet and exercise. You can find here a clear explanation about what the vegan diet is, why to choose it, what's different between vegan and plant-based diets, the importance of vitamins in your diet, the schedule when to eat while you exercising, and many more... Also on the end of the book you'll find meal and snack ideas. Great written and very well research guide.
