What is the difference between size 12 short and size 12 petite?

Size "12 Short" length has a 29 inch inseam as the "12 Petite" has a 27 inch inseam

measurement inside the leg from the crouch to bottom of pants leg. Is it 30", 31", 32", etc.?

This high rise is offered in 3 length 31 inch inseam for average length, 29 inch inseam for short length and 33 inch inseam for tall or long length.
