My kitty loves this (and it's good for him)
My wife is fanatical about using the healthiest cat food she can find. Testament to this was the age our late family member, Kitty Boy, who passed in my arms last summer, at the age of 21 who was fed this product regularly. I wasn't going to get another cat so soon, but shortly after we were asked to foster a cat while a home was being found. When I met the new cat, Bodhi, who spent the first few weeks hiding under the bed, and only coming out to eat, (this great brand of cat food, btw) I had this feeling, the likes of which I don't get often, and have learned to heed, that we needed to keep him. Well, he is thriving, and has turned out to be a wonderful companion, who keeps me company, but was clearly mistreated before we got him. So more on the food, if you have a cat, you know how finicky they can be about food, and also for the person feeding him, you all know how you hate the smell of most cat food, but Merrick is a high grade product, that truth be told, if I was in a situation where there was an emergency and all there was to eat was this cat food, I'd eat it. It has an appetizing aroma, that's unlike most other cat foods, and he seems to love this particular flavor.

Merrick wet -- the best cat food money can buy!!
Merrick wet cat food is outstanding... in my opinion, the best you can feed your feline friends. The biggest advantages are (1) grain free and (2) no meat by-products. My cats LOVE it too. The beef and duck varieties are a bit too watery for my liking so I don't waste money buying water. Cats in the wild do not eat fish so I don't feed my cats anything other than Merrick chicken and turkey... and they are thriving. They are hale, hearty, healthy and very active, and have beautiful coats. My vet tells me that they are in the very best of shape. The are both 2 1/2 years old now and have had a diet of ONLY Merrick wet food since thet were 8 week old kittens. I think Merrick is among the best money can buy.

Can now has non-stick lining. Cat loves this food! Beware old cans!
I've ordered this a few times from Amazon. The last case (purchased July 2, 2019) had a change. When I opened the can, the food was not sticking to the sides. At first it looked strange, but then I noticed that the can now had a non-stick lining. My cat is super picky and used to eat around half of this food. With the can change, my cat now eats all the food! Perhaps there was some taste that that got into the food with the old cans. Who knows. But now, it's great.UPDATE(Sept 10, 2019): Well, since the new cans were so great, I ordered 2 cases. I mean, that last case FROM AMAZON was great. Apparently Amazon does not do stock rotation because the 2 cases that I received are OLDER than the last case. The great food says "Best Before 29 May 2021". The 2 cases that I just got says "Best Before 16 May 2021" and the cans do not have the new non-stick lining. The cans look totally different. Old cans have all sorts of "how to open" instructions on the lid. The new can lids are plain. Now, while the old cans that I just got are not expired, I'm still very disappointed. I would think that Amazon would ship the oldest food first. Apparently not. Or the food came from another warehouse. Regardless, you may want to wait to give Amazon more time to get rid of the old, less good product.

His highness approves!
His highness love love loves this food! We have tried almost all of the other pate flavors and this seems to be the all out winner. This food was recommended by the breeder I got his highness from, and we haven't tried anything else. One issue I had was with the duck and turkey flavors, I found discoloration that looked like mold, but I contacted the manufacturer and they said it was likely the alfalfa that is used in certain flavors. That is what made me switch to the beef, because I have rarely found any weirdness colors in these cans, and on the occasion that I have, I am still buying that is just alfalfa.... But, these are great, and all cat food looks a little funky if you get too close to it, ammi right? His highness eats one can for breffis and one for supper. He is about 13(or more) pounds and less than a year old.

Product differs between sizes
I usually buy the 3oz cans for my kitty, and it's the only food he'll eat. I decided to try to save some money by buying the larger cans. The product is completely different - different texture, color, smell, everything. My cat won't eat it. My guess is they use different companies or plants for the different sized cans. Unfortunately, I can't return the product to Amazon, so $100+ worth of cat food is going into some lucky pet store's donation bin. If your pet likes the small size cans, buy a single large can at the pet store to try before buying a case.

Merrick Purrfect Bistro - (24) 3 oz. Cans
My cat loves this food. He is a large cat and gets one can in the morning and dry food at night. He loves the beef flavor, comes running every time. The stools are small and not as stinky with other brands that have more fillers in them.

Got a drier batch
I have a cat who requires limited ingredient food, so Merrick has some good options. I purchased this beef pate originally from Petsmart, and found the pate to be very soft and tender, so I ordered a shipment of 24 from Amazon. Unfortunately, the 24 that arrived seemed overcooked. The pate had a hard edge or crust all around it- like a burger that was cooked too long. Merrick customer support took my information but provided no help. Thankfully, Amazon refunded my purchase. Hope it was a fluke because my cats do like this pate!
