I love the line and band that help you remember when you last fed your starter. So helpful. I am very forgetful, and this helps keep my starter alive. Especially if you have it in the fridge and only feed it weekly. The jar could be a little bigger, but fine for a starter.

This is a great product. I can mark when I feed my starter and watch it grow. The cheesecloth style top lets it breath and is easy to clean. The scraper keeps the starter from drying up on the side of the jar. And the temperature gauge lets me know what stage my starter is at. The elastic band allows me to mark the time I fed my starter. Everything is functional and easy to clean.

If you're not ready to have another child, don't do it, but if you are a responsible person it's a great tool. The bands and dates imply you can't forget about it but also that you need another dorky reminder to tell you that you don't really know how to keep it alive, it's hungry it's bloated it's collapsing it's needy. I started mine with great ambitions and realized it's a dream I'm not yet ready for and life kinda bogged me out of the dream, but stay positive, I make my pizza and calzone dough from bread flour and store bought yeast and it doesn't require all the time sourdough does nor does it reap the benefits of putting in that work.

I feel like this is jar is a pretty good bang for your buck. Comes with everything you see here, including the temperature strip on the side, which is really cool! And it also came with a skinny spatula because the jar is pretty narrow. I think eventually I would like a wider jar, but I am just getting started with my sourdough journey, so this is perfect for me!

Kit arrived well packaged. My date "band" was sewn correctly to not have the seam in the kiddle of a day like someone else experienced but the mini spatula arrived sans handle. Just a useless block of silicone tucked inside the jar with the rest of the kit parts.

It comes with everything you need to make a sourdough starter! It also comes with very clear directions that are really helpful!!

I purchased this jar two separate times and loved it at first. After several weeks of use, the bottom of both jars broke off as I was cleaning them. I wasn’t using too much pressure or cleaning rigorously. Do not recommend.
