Very sturdy and firm with the wooden base making it easy to sharpen using both your hands.What i disliked about it is the black powder that comes out when you clean it with a cloth.

Good product for the price

Considering the price it does what it is supposed to do. I sharpened three knives, they were not razor sharp but they were sharp enough to cut vegetables smoothly. Real wet stones are very expensive and you do not need them from cheap knives. This is alright for household knives.

High price for the qwality

The high grit on this stone makes it a great choice for preparing an edge to be sharpened, but if you want a sharp edge, find a stone with a higher grit rating, ideally about 1000 to start.The grit on this stone looks to be about 300. If you're looking for a whetstone, try to either:A) Get a combination whetstone with a coarse (300) and a fine side (1000)B) Just get a stone that has a grit rating of 1000.Even so, that really might not be enough simply because 1000 alone is just not sufficient for higher end chef knives that have really hard blades. For the cheaper knives, like the kind you would see a chat wala use to cook onions, or the kinds we buy on the roadside in Kerala, which are made out of a cheap iron that goes black quickly, a 1000 grit whetstone will produce a beautifully sharp blade ideal for all your cutting needs.But this stone is utter garbage, don't waste your money on it.
